2 GML 2011 - 2012 Majestic Governor’s Messages DG RAFAEL M. GARCIA iii

Your Majesties :

We are now on the 2nd Quarter of the Rotary year, and October is Voca- tional Service month. Let us for this month focus on efforts to promote and foster high ethical standards in all business and professions, recognize all useful professions and dignify each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportu- nity to serve. Let us concentrate on doing our Vocational Service Projects !

So far so good! Everything has been running like clockwork!

ART FROM THE HEART

The bag-painting contest initiated by newly chartered RC Greater Mandaluyong was a resounding success. Indeed, CP Mila is starting to show up the Mandaluyong motherclub that the daughter club can be bigger and better than the parent! Let us congratulate CP Mila for a job well done! Great job!

RYLA 2011

D3800 conducted RYLA 2011 at Pranjetto Hills in Tanay over the weekend. It was a real learning experience, according to the testimonials of the participants. Our New Generations Chair, Oscar Bautista, and RYLA Chair Susan Bautista along with Majestic President Christy Fuentes and the MANPASAN host club should be congratulated and thanked profusely for a job well done! I am certain it was an experience that will long be remembered by the participants.

OCTOBERFIESTA

San Juan Magilas showed its organizational prowess with an Octoberfiesta that will long be talked about and remembered. There were more than 750 registrants to the event that overflowed the Makati Sports Club ballroom! They ran out of food, and ran out of seats, but did not run out of fun fun fun! Congratulations to CP Sunday Pineda and Majestic President Jojo Cartujano and the other members of RC San Juan Magilas for a great job!

I’ll be sending out more thank you and congratulatory messages after I complete my Governor’s Visits this week.

Meanwhile, thank you and maraming salamat to all the host clubs and the participants.

GML 2011 - 2012 7 DISTRICT 3800 October Fiesta October 08, 2011

The following email posted by DG Raffy Garcia on the District 3800 October Fiesta best describes what transpired during the most awaited fellowship activty in the District. The message gives a vivid account of the events from the Dart Tournament, the singing contest, the line dancing and of course the boozing and merry making that made it simply the best fellowship activity this Rotary year. After that brief break we can again get back to doing what we do best, “Serve those who have less in life in the community” and look forward to another exciting fellowship activity during the DISCON.! The Editor

Your Majesties:

I hope you all enjoyed the OctoberFiesta fellowship that we had last night!

A special thank you to RC San Juan Magilas led by its Ma- jestic President Jojo Cartujano and its Charter President Sunday Pineda, for a well organized, efficiently run affair! SDG Sunday was absent in most of our governor's visits this week because he was like an expectant father doting over all the details of the affair! And SDG and San Juan GEMS Charter President Maricris Lim Pineda was the mother hen shepherding everyone to ensure everything would work like clockwork. Salamat sa inyong lahat!

Thank you too to the band of Bobby del Rosario. They were great! Congratulations also go to the contestants of the Rota- ry Idol singing contest. They were actually all great but Hermie Carino was just a cut above the rest singing his signature song. Dapat iba ang pinakanta ninyo sa kanya. Parang nilabanan ninyo ako singing "What a Wonderful World"! Wala kayong laban! You may be good but that's my song! Ganoon din sa kanta ni Hermie! "Kahit ilang ti- nik ay kaya kong tapakan!" Natapakan tuloy kayo!

Vice Fabie Cadiz was also good but while his song was good enough to win him votes, apparently the judges were not impressed. I was though! Unfortunately, I had

8 GML 2011 - 2012 I also want to thank AG El Bello who conducted a well attended Darts Tournament. Ang galing! Si- nong nanalo?

And another special thank you goes to the clubs of Cainta and Metro Pasig who last year figured in a misunderstanding. They have learned to live, love and work together as Rotarians! Mabuhay kayong lahat! That's why I called them up to the stage at the end of the affair to sing together! Actually, Metro Pasig took a huge step in the reconciliation by asking Cainta Majestic President Ging Estevez to deliver the opening remarks at the opening of the Ten Pin Bowling tournament last week. That is good Rotary!

Another group that must be thanked are the super dancers of D3800 composed of Jopay Garcia, Ophel Bello and Wit Bello! (Apat ba sila?) Doon lang kasi sa tatlo, naduling na ako! Wow! Ang galing ninyong magsayaw! At ang sexy! Talo ang Viva Hot-babes! Magiingat kayo. Baka kunin kayo ng ABS CBN! Nakita ba kayo ni Gina Lopez?

And talking about dancers, the two DI's leading the line dancing were exceptional, although MP Arthleen Fetalvero was keeping up with them. I had to comment to DGA Rudy Retirado that the lady DI had all her moves down pat. Ang galing!

And finally, to the Majestic Presidents! Yung pinakamagulong grupo kagabi na wala na lang gustong gawin kungdi magpa-photo op ng photo op! Hay naku! Kawawa naman si Jo Bigden! Ilang beses ninyo dinaganan! Si Pin Agustin tuloy, nagtago na lang! You are too many to name but the ones creating the most havoc were Jerry Ang, Oliver Choa, Philip Sabino, Jimmy Rosillo, Ging Estevez, Melgazer Apostadero and of all people Majestic Global Charter President Mila Puyat! Ang gal- ing! She kept jumping into all the pictures that were being taken! Talo yung mga masbata sa kanya! Bakit? Sinong nagsasabing matanda na si Lady Mila? Tatalunin niya tayong lahat!

Unfortunately, in our efforts to reduce the costs of Rotary, we have can- celed all other district fellowship affairs this year, except for the DIS- CON. So, except for private affairs, we won't have this kind of happy happy until the DISCON. In the meantime, get back to work on dou- bling your membership, lowering the cost of Rotary by removing all ex- travagant undertakings and continuing with our work as Rotarians of Service above Self! I will be done with all my inductions and governor's visits by October 22 and will be doing my round of visits for fellowships and service projects until December when I want to re-visit those clubs that are tasked to rebuild their memberships. At that time, we will work on the service projects that we will be working on together!

Be "Ready to Serve!" YHSL
