The sitcom reunites the actress with longtime friend and former “Cheers” co-star Rhea Perlman and pairs them with famed “Seinfeld” actor Michael Richards, both of whom have won multiple Emmy® Awards as well. “Kirstie’s New Show” also stars Eric Petersen (“Shrek: The Musical”) and will premiere in Fall 2013 with 12 episodes. Alley took to Twitter today to announce the series and celebrate the good news (see her video announcement here). “This cast is a TV Land dream team of stars. Seeing them all together is truly mind-blowing,” said TV Land President Larry W. Jones. “This series pick-up reaffirms our commitment to making broadcast quality original programming for a network whose brand stands for timeless entertainment.” “We’ve been after Kirstie for two years, and now we found the perfect show for her and the perfect writer in Marco Pennette,” added Keith Cox, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming. “We are so excited to give a home to Kirstie and this amazing cast with a show that TV Land fans will love.” -more- Page 2 – TV Land Greenlights Original Sitcom “Kirstie’s New Show” Starring Kirstie Alley “Kirstie’s New Show” revolves around Madison “Maddie” Banks, a renowned Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when Arlo (Petersen), the son she gave up at birth, suddenly appears hoping to connect after his adoptive parents have died. However, Maddie doesn’t exactly see nerdy and schlubby Arlo fitting in with her luxurious lifestyle. But when Maddie’s assistant and best friend, Thelma (Perlman), and outlandish driver Frank (Richards) encourage her to give Arlo a chance, Maddie is shocked to find that perhaps she has motherly instincts after all. “Kirstie’s New Show” (previously known as “Giant Baby”) is written and executive produced by Marco Pennette and is also executive produced by Kirstie Alley and Jason Weinberg. At times, they seem superhuman such is their creative genius or the magnitude of their performance. But actors, artists, sculptors, musicians, and dancers are as human as the rest of us. Their bones break, their muscles fail, and their joints creak and give them pain. Perhaps they suffer more than others given the physical demands that their chosen professions often place on their bodies. While their gifts are many and varied, these artists share an intense devotion to their careers. And if they are impaired by an illness or an injury, they are equally as motivated in their desire to recover. That is why these working artists come to Hospital for Special Surgery. They know we will treat them as we do all of our patients – providing the best musculoskeletal care available in the world today. Rhea Perlman took over the role of Nora, after Rosie O’Donnell, became ill. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production will play a limited Off-Broadway engagement February 20 – April 1, with Opening Night on Thursday, March 8 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). Through the microcosm of a rural Connecticut mental health center, Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe conjures a whole American community on the edge. Like their patients and their families, Dr. Michaels (Ed Harris), his colleague Evangeline (Amy Madigan) and the clinic itself teeter between breakdown and survival, wielding dedication and humanity against the cunning, inventive adversary of mental illness, to hold onto the need to fight – and to live. Inspired by a real clinic, Rabe finds humor and compassion in a raft of richly drawn characters adrift in a society and a system stretched beyond capacity.
