PUBLIC NOTICE ANNOUNCEMENT OF CUT-OFF DATE FOR CENSUS OF PROPERTIES AFFECTED BY THE PROJECT ALONG GREATER The Ministry of Transport and Communications wishes to inform members of the public that the cut-off date to consult Project Affected Parties (PAPs) for the Design, Build and Transfer of Selected Urban Road Intersections in Greater Gaborone is 10 October 2020 at 1630 hrs. The project is preparing a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) to facilitate compensation for the project as per the approved Project Resettlement Policy Framework. Known affected parties have been consulted individually. The Ministry is currently undertaking a project for layout improvement of selected road intersections in Gaborone in order to facilitate smooth traffic flow as well as to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety. The Project entails road markings of 89 intersections, construction of additional lanes at various strategic spots within the Greater Gaborone area. This is a World Bank funded project in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Botswana. The project will be implemented in phases and is currently at the design phase. Details of each phase are presented below.

 Phase 1 – Design and Construction of Road Intersections with major changes: Eighteen (18) calendar months from the start date of the Contract.  Phase 2 – Design and Construction of Road Intersections with minor changes: Twenty-four (24) calendar months from the start date of the contract. It is noted that intersections of this portion may be delivered only after all intersections of separable portion 1 have been handed over to the Employer.  A Defects Liability Period of twelve (12) calendar months. The Defects Liability Period will start for every intersection, after the handover Certificate, ensuring that the works have been completed in accordance with the contract specifications.

Description of Intersections with Major Modifications The intersections presented in the table below are the ones with major modifications like addition of pathways, cycle way and/or additional lanes.

This notice, therefore, serves to announce the cut-off date being 10 October 2020 at 1630 hrs, for all project affected parties (PAPs) i.e. therefore, after this date, new developments / businesses in the defined project corridor will not be included in the list of PAPs and will not be eligible for compensation under this project.
