Grinnell Peace Institute awarded Bettendorf H. S. SOUP (Students Organized to Unite People) Iowa Peace Prize in the high school division. (Co-founder of SOUP and leader/playwright for SOUP Troupe) • July 24, 2001. Iowa State Department of Education awarded SOUP its Equity Award for the 2000-2001 school year. • April 5, 2000. Grinnell Peace Institute awarded Bettendorf H. S. Thespian Troupe the Iowa Peace Prize in the high school division for performances of original play, Casualties. • September 22, 1999, Casualties premiered. The anti-violence play is later featured on Iowa Public Television’s Living in Iowa series in March of 2000. • November 14, 1997.
