The Peninsula of Nicoya

The is the largest of Costa Rica, bathed by the Pacific Ocean, bounded by the Gulf of Papagayo to the north and Nicoya to the south. On its large coast line you can find beaches of fine and gray sands, cliffs, deserted bays, estuaries and many more. Dense tropical vegetation alternates with cattle grazing on hilly farmland. It has some of the most isolated and beautiful beaches, several national parks and a longer summer season, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations.

The Peninsula is still kind of a remote paradise in many parts, although there are some well-known and busier spots like Tamarindo or . But most areas – especially in the south -are still dominated by rural mountain hamlets or sleepy villages dispersed on the natural and unspoilt coast.

You can find a small place to eat and a mini super for emergency purchases in most of the villages, but don’t count on a wide choice of restaurants, a gas station or an international school next door.

If you need buzzling nightlife, paved roads or landline internet access, you better think twice!

On the other hand you will be overwhelmed by the tranquility and peace of nature, the awesome colors of a dry rainforest and undisturbed nature.

Life in the Peninsula is an incredible way to go back to the roots, live and enjoy a wonderful place with an extraordinary privacy.

You will find yourself in the middle of an exotic flora and fauna, between coffee and citrus farms, local people on horseback, howler monkeys waking you at sunrise. Live your life in sync with the dry and wet season. Enjoy 5 months of almost cloudless blue sky and heavy rainfalls in September and October.

This is the perfect place to leave the world behind.
