SERIES A. BIOGRAPHICAL AND GENEALOGICAL MATERIAL, 1928-1940 and n.d. This series contains a small amount of information on the Bankhead family, and numerous biographical notes and sketches of Tallulah Bankhead. Unarranged. Box 1, Folder 1

1. Correspondence and letters to and from her, 1910-1948 and n.d. This subseries contains correspondence and letters to and from Tallulah Bankhead. Subjects discussed include: the Bankhead family in all its complexity; Tallulah Bankhead’s acting career, and many other subjects. Also included in this subseries are letters to and from Edie (Edith Van Cleve) where she acted on behalf of Tallulah, primarily in 1930. The letters and telegrams of sympathy on the death of her father, William B. Bankhead, 1940, constitute a large number of letters and telegrams. In the letter of 30 Jan. 1919 is a pencil sketch of her by Jeanette Le Pastte. Primary correspondents within the family include her grandparents John H. Bankhead (1842- 1920) and Mrs. Tallulah B. Bankhead; father William B. Bankhead; stepmother Mrs. Florence M. Bankhead; cousin Louise Bankhead; aunt Clara Mae Floyd; aunt Louise Lund; cousin John Bankhead; and aunt Marie B. Owen. Other frequent correspondents include business and lobbyist Knox Julian; the Actors Equity Association; producers; directors; and actors; as well as numerous fans. Arranged chronologically. SERIES D. PHOTOGRAPHS, ca. 1902-1968. Prints of Tallulah, some of which are with her family, but primarily portraits of her alone, or pictures of her with other cast members in a play or movie. There are photos of other actors as well. Of particular interest is the photo ca. 1904, of William B. Bankhead with his daughters Eugenia and Tallulah; the pictures, some candid, of Tallulah as a baby and girl; the portraits of Tallulah as a young woman taken by Juniere (NY) and Sarony (NY); first movie; and the photos of her at baseball games.
