Madrid Close In
PREVIEW ISSUE FOUR – 24TH APRIL 2012 MADRID CLOSE IN REAL TAKE THE SPOILS IN THE EL CLASICO AND CLOSE IN ON THE SILVERWARE After a poor week for both sides in Europe, Real and Barca were desperate to grab a win against their biggest rivals on a dramatic, rain-lashed Saturday night at the Nou Camp. It was Real that grabbed the vital win and probably clinched the La Liga title. Los Merengues went ahead through German midfielders Sami Khedira and were comfortable for long periods, but Barca’s Chilean substitute Alexis Sánchez equalised with just 20 minutes remaining. Cristiano Ronaldo’s clinical strike just three minutes later settled the game with Madrid now seven points clear, with only four games remaining. Madrid coach José Mourinho named an very attacking team and his side began the better. Ronaldo’s early header from a corner brought a superb flying save from goalkeeper Víctor Valdés. His opposite number Iker Casillas was then quickly off his line when full-back Dani Alves dispossessed Sergio Ramos. The game was being played at a fearsome pace and French striker Karim Benzema brought the best out of Valdés again. Barca thought they had gone front when Alves had the ball in the net after a Cristian Tello run, but the youngster had been flagged offside. INSIDE THIS WEEK’S WFW Real’s brave start was rewarded when Pepe’s header from another corner was half- - RESULTS ROUND-UP ON ALL MAJOR stopped by Valdes and Khedira tackled an COMPETITIONS FROM AROUND THE hesitant Carles Puyol to push the ball into the WORLD net to put Madrid ahead. -

The preferences of Sporting CP Supporters: An analysis based on Promoted Youth Players ! ! ! ! ! “It’s not that I am not interested in playing for an English club, it’s more that I believe the best place for me to progress is at Sporting, where they give a lot of opportunities to young players. Maybe some players lose their heads when they go to big clubs because they think they are a big deal, I’m not sure.” - Eric Dier, 20 January 2011, www.dailymail.co.uk ! ! ! ! ! ! ""! ! The preferences of Sporting CP Supporters: An analysis based on Promoted Youth Players Thanks First of all I would like to thank to my supervisors: Dr Paulo Rita from ISCTE Business School (Portugal) and Dr Bradley Wilson from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Australia) for all advices they gave me and for all time they invested to make this dissertation the best as possible. Their contribution was fundamental for the quality of this dissertation. There were also two crucial people who helped me with statistical software: Maria Inês Marques, who explained me some statistical procedures on SPSS, and Fernando Afonso, who taught me how to manage SPSS AMOS. I want to thank to all 1054 people who answered to my survey. Without them this study cannot be performed. -

The past two years have therefore been a rather intense period, as UEFA has had to implement the new structures while at the same time addressing current football issues and launching new projects. Both these tasks were far-reaching and voluminous. Among other challenges, UEFA had to help find a solution to the issue of international transfers, cope with the complex demands of organising competitions, define the format for the club competitions and defend the centralised marketing of the rights to the UEFA Champions League. In terms of projects, we launched the club licensing system, created our subsidiary UEFA New Media, set up a new structure for marketing opera- tions and moved forward with our study aimed at allowing the use of artificial-turf surfaces in UEFA competitions. Details of all these processes and projects are to be found The UEFA in my two-yearly report to the Congress. -

Matchday 36 Serie A TIM 2019-20 24 - 26 July 2020 MILAN vs ATALANTA Atalanta have shared 42 draws with AC Milan – more than against any other Serie A TIM opponent, losing 51 times against the Rossoneri and winning 24. After winning the reverse fixture 5-0 back in December, Atalanta could win both games against AC Milan in a single Serie A TIM season for the first time since 2007/08. Atalanta’s last win against AC Milan in the second half of the season was in 2016 under Edoardo Reja. AC Milan have won only one of their last seven home meetings against Atalanta (D3 L3), failing to score in five of those games. Atalanta have scored 95 goals in their 35 games played so far this season, an average 2.7 per game – should they maintain this average, they would end on 103 goals, which would be their best goal scoring performance in Serie A TIM since 1950/51. Since the return of Serie A TIM in June, Atalanta and AC Milan are the two teams with the highest points per game on average (2.6). Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has an identical record of seven wins, seven draws and seven losses against AC Milan as a manager in Serie A TIM. AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been directly involved in five goals in his last four Serie A TIM appearances against Atalanta, scoring four and assisting another. Should he assist in this match, Hakan Calhanoglu could become the first AC Milan player to record an assist in four consecutive Serie A matches since Opta started their data collection in 2004-05. -
