Mobi Setup Install the Software Check to see if the software has been loaded on the computer: o Go to Start > Programs > eInstruction > Interwrite Workspace If the software is not loaded, you or your lab assistant can install the software (use the provided CD) DO NOT connect the Bluetooth receiver before installing the software Note: At least once a semester, be sure to click the Interwrite icon in the bottom taskbar and select “check for updates” Connect the Mobi 1. Insert the hub into the USB port on the computer. The blue LED will light up on the hub when plugged in. 2. Press the lighted activation button on the hub. The light should start blinking. 3. Turn on the Mobi. 4. Turn the Mobi over and press the blue button next to the battery opening to activate the Mobi’s signal. NOTE: This is a one time set up – future connects will be automatic. When not in use, store the hub in the storage area on the back of the Mobi. Charge the Mobi Make sure pen is secure and plug the Mobi tablet into the docking station Battery icon indicates charging status Full charge is 12 hours Mobi Status Indicators Parts of the Mobi Workspace Software Launch Workspace 1. Go to Start > Programs > eInstruction > Interwrite Workspace - a blank screen will appear. 2. From the toolbar, select blank page. Four Parts of Workspace I. Main Toolbar (right) – (defaults to Intermediate toolbar) o To Change the Toolbar Button Shape and Size 1. Click the down arrow on the toolbar and choose Preferences. 2. Choose the Toolbar Settings tab. 3. In the Shape Files box, choose a shape. 4. In the Toolbar Button Size in Pixels section, choose 40 X 40 for larger buttons. o To Customize the Toolbar 1. Click the down arrow on the toolbar and choose Preferences. 2. Click the Customize Toolbar tab. 3. Make any desired changes (add the Ruler) and click OK. II. Properties Bar – (bottom) Allows you to modify any tool that you choose o Color o Line width o Shapes o Arrow type o Etc. Will change depending upon which tool is selected in the main toolbar III. Navigation Tools – (bottom, right) o Allows you to browse between different page in your document IV. Recycle Bin – (bottom, right) o Storage for deleted items – sometimes “hidden” under the main toolbar Basic Toolbar Overview Annotation tools 1. Pen 2. Highlighter 3. Shapes – first select the shape and then draw 4. Line 5. Text 6. Freehand Text – handwriting recognition 7. Freehand Shape a. Choose the color, font, size etc. first b. Can select a saved picture 8. Gradient (Multicolor) pen 9. Picture pen 10. Stamper 11. Fill Editing tools 1. Selection 2. Eraser 3. Undo 4. Clear File Management 1. Navigation arrows 2. Page sorter 3. Help Menu 4. Workspace Menu 5. Save (can export as PowerPoint or pdf) 6. Exit Interactive Mode – Creating Interactive Content Mouse Mode Allows you to leave a workspace page and return to your desktop or open another software application The mouse will be grayed out on the workspace toolbar when you are in mouse mode To return to your workspace page, select it in the bottom toolbar. Annotation Mode o Access through Toolbox icon o Allows you to leave a workspace page and return to your desktop or open another software application and annotate over a presentation without going back to workspace environment o Use page sorter or previous next arrows to return to workspace o You will be prompted to save annotations made in your project . If you say yes a workspace page will be created to save annotations . If you say no you cannot recapture annotations Advanced Toolbar Overview Presentation Curtain – hides objects – may access through the Toolbox icon . is resizable, movable and can be made transparent . use handle to resize or cursor to pull screen click close curtain button to close Spotlight – allows you to view a small part of the screen – may access through the Toolbox icon . can change shape or be resized . use cursor to drag spotlight Timer – a timer or stopwatch – access through Toolbox icon Hyperlinks - may link words or pictures – pictures may be inserted from the Gallery 1. Use selection tool to select the object 2. Click the Links button in the Properties bar 3. Select Add or Edit Link i. Select the type of document your are linking to from the drop down menu ii. Chose the file or website you want to link to and click OK Math Tools Compass Tips . Click the Toolbox icon to access the Compass . Click on the center of the top of the compass to move it . To change the radius, move the color tip . To change the color of the tip, go to Properties bar (bottom) . Click the Selection tool to close the compass Ruler Tips . Select the Ruler (if the ruler is not on the toolbar, click the Toolbox icon to access it) . Select 20 cm or 1 m . Move the red lines to measure . Click the ruler on the toolbar to close Protractor Tips . Click the Toolbox icon to access the Protractor . Select the desired degree (180 or 360) - radians and degrees will display . To close, click the center of the protractor and click the X (upper right) Triangle Tips . Click the Toolbox icon to access the Triangle . Select Left or Right . Move the red bars to measure . To close, click the center of the triangle and click the X (upper right) Page Tools – Other than Blank Grid Page – graph paper (great for math and science) Calendar Page - Week at a glance (great for assignments) Gradient Page – creates gradient color pages (great for use with visually impaired students) Multimedia Capture – (camera icon) may access through the Toolbox icon Find an Internet site from your subject area and practice capture Gallery . Access through Gallery icon on toolbar . Search Feature . Image Categories and Subcategories . Thumbnail Previews Types of Resources Standard image file - can be resized Image page (bent right corner) o click and drag to the page o takes up full screen Interwrite Sims - Flash based lessons .
