Résumé : Les études de phylogénie moléculaire sur les Lépidoptères Rhopalocères et Zygènes sont de plus en plus nombreuses ces dernières années modifiant la systématique et la taxinomie de ces deux groupes. Une mise à jour complète est réalisée dans ce travail. Un cadre décisionnel a été élaboré pour les niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifique avec une approche intégrative de la taxinomie. Ce cadre intégre notamment un aspect biogéographique en tenant compte des zones-refuges potentielles pour les espèces au cours du dernier maximum glaciaire. Cette démarche permet d’avoir une approche homogène pour le classement des taxa aux niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifiques. Les conséquences pour l’acquisition des données dans le cadre d’un inventaire national sont développées. Summary : Studies on molecular phylogenies of Butterflies and Burnets have been increasingly frequent in the recent years, changing the systematics and taxonomy of these two groups. A full update has been performed in this work. -

The landscape character of the Badger Mountain South community as identified in these standards borrows heavily from the precedent of the original shrub-steppe landscape found here. However that historical character is joined with other opportunities for a more refined and urban landscape pattern that relates to edges of uses and defines spaces into activity areas. The Eryngium genus, of the Apiaceae family, includes plants characterized by morphological attributes that give them, in many situations, the status of decorative plants. Relatively modest ecological requirements and fairly good resistance to less favourable crop conditions (sunstroke, water deficit, poor soils and salinity etc.) contribute to the interest in these plants. This paper aims to highlight the possibilities of using for five Eryngium taxa (E. alpinum 'Superbum', E. planum 'Blue Sea Holly', E. planum 'Blue Hobbit', E. leavenworthii) with ornamental qualities, cultivated in the conditions of Iaşi, with a view to their promotion and superior exploitation in floral art and landscaping. Genul Eryngium, din familia Apiaceae, cuprinde plante caracterizate prin însuşiri morfologice care le conferă, în multe situaţii, şi statutul de plante decorative. Cerinţele ecologice relativ modeste şi rezistenţa destul de bună la condiţii de cultură mai puţin favorabile altor specii (insolaţie, deficit de apă, soluri sărace şi cu salinitate crescută etc.) contribuie la creşterea interesului pentru aceste plante. Lucrarea de faţă îşi propune să evidenţieze posibilităţile de utilizare a cinci taxoni de Eryngium (E. alpinum ‘Superbum’, E. planum ‘Blue Sea Holly’, E. planum 'Blue Hobbit', E. leavenworthii) cu calităţi ornamentale, cultivaţi în condiţiile de la Iaşi, în vederea promovării şi valorificării superioare a acestora în arta florală şi în amenajări peisagistice. -

Relative Ranking of Ornamental Flower Plants to Foraging Honey Bees (With Notes on Favorability to Bumble Bees) Whitney Cranshaw Colorado State University Observations were made during the 2007-2009 growing seasons on the relative attractiveness of various flowering ornamental plants to honey bees (Apis mellifera). This information was collected so that honey bee favorability - or lack of favorability - may be considered in plant selection. The study was conducted by repeated visits to public garden plantings in Larimer, Denver, Adams, and Cheyenne counties. Gardens were chosen that had large mass plantings of numerous flowering plants so that comparisons could be made and included the Denver Botanic Garden, gardens at Colorado State University (PERC, Flower Demonstration Planting), Welby Gardens, and Cheyenne Botanic Garden. These sites also were chosen because plantings had identification labeling. Plantings were visited between 2 and 12 times between mid-June and mid-September. Evaluations were made by examining plants that were in flower for the presence of honey bees. A planting was then given a relative ranking based on honey bee numbers. A 0-3 scale was used: 3 - Heavily visited by foraging honey bees 2 - Moderately visited by honey bees and foraged 1 - Honey bees seen occasionally visiting flowers 0 - Honey bees do not forage at these flowers Data were collected from a total of 319 different plant entries durig this study. Variation in rankings between dates did occur; where this occurred from multiple ratings the final ranking was rounded up to a whole number. Numerous other bees and other insects were commonly seen on many plants. -

Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 48106-1346 ABSTRACT The decline of British bumble bees has been attributed to the loss of their habitat through the intensification of agricultural practices. In the quest for information of use to bumble bee conservation the potential of our flower-rich cities has been overlooked. The overall aim of this study was to determine the status and foraging requirements of bumble bees in the urban environment provided by the city of London, U.K. My principal findings are as follows. Six common species and three rare species were identified. The greatest diversity of Bombus species was found in the east of London. Garden and wasteland habitats attracted the greatest abundance of workers and diversity of Bombus species. -

Box 6091, Damascus, Syria; e-mail: scientifi[email protected] Abstract: Eryngium L. species growing in Syria were characterized using morphological, geographical and molecular analyses (IRAP and RAPD). Eight Eryngium L. species have been determined to exist in Syria. E. glomeratum, E. campestre and E. falcatum were found to grow in the mountain regions. E. creticum and E. desertorum were found to grow in variant environments: mountains, semidesert and saline environments, which indicate their wide range of adaptation and tolerance to abiotic stresses. E. maritimum was the only species found to grow on the coastal sandy beaches suggesting that it is adapted to sandy, saline and humid environments. The two PCR-based techniques showed that E. pussilum and E. billardieri were the most distal to all other species. E. pussilum is found to grow in Leftaya region, which is a swamps area similar to the typical habitat for American Eryngiums. The most related species were E. glomeratum and E. campestre, which were mainly found in mountainous regions, followed by E. desertorum, E. falcatum,andE. creticum.
