Exhibit 1 details only minor changes in enrollment and ethnic percentages since the December 15 report. See Exhibit 1. 3. The annual Freedom of Choice period for students entering grades 1-12 ended on January 27, 2020, and the annual Freedom of Choice period for students entering prekindergarten and kindergarten ended on May 8, 2020. This is the time parents selected the school(s) they wish their children to attend in 2020-21. With reference to Austin, Hillside, Kimberlin, Walnut Glen, Beaver, Watson, Jackson MST, North Garland MST, the Classical Centers at Vial and Brandenburg, and the magnet programs at Herfurth, Luna, Garland HS, Lakeview Centennial HS, Rowlett HS, South Garland HS and Naaman Forest HS, it was then important to screen applicants for these schools and fill spaces. Based on the screening exercise at the other campuses, the following figures are pertinent: a. Hillside currently has 369 gifted/talented students enrolled for the fall. Included are 42 Kindergarteners, 50 first graders, 66 second graders, 64 third graders, 66 fourth graders, and 81 fifth graders. Of this total number, 61 (16.53%) will be White; 50 (13.55%) will be Black; 87 (23.58%) will be Asian; 161 (43.63%) will be Hispanic; and 9 (2.44%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. b. Kimberlin currently has 334 gifted/talented students enrolled for the fall. Included are 21 Kindergarteners, 52 first graders, 56 second graders, 64 third graders, 65 fourth graders, and 76 fifth graders. Of this total number, 146 (43.71%) will be White; 49 (14.67%) will be Black; 51 (15.27%) will be Asian; 64 (19.16%) will be Hispanic; and 23 (6.89%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. c. Walnut Glen currently has 299 gifted/talented students enrolled for the fall. Included are 44 Kindergarteners, 34 first graders, 60 second graders, 53 third graders, 44 fourth graders, and 64 fifth graders. Of this total number, 61 (20.40%) will be White; 23 (7.69%) will be Black; 74 (24.75%) will be Asian; 130 (43.48%) will be Hispanic; and 11 (3.68%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. d. Beaver Technology Center for Math and Science currently has 358 MST students enrolled for the fall. Included are 38 Kindergarteners, 37 first graders, 71 second graders, 67 third graders, 68 fourth graders, and 77 fifth graders. Of this number, 77 (21.51%) will be White; 50 (13.97%) will be Black; 68 (18.99%) will be Asian; 151 (42.18%) will be Hispanic; and 12 (3.35%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. e. Watson Technology Center for Math and Science currently has 355 MST students enrolled for the fall. Included are 36 Kindergarteners, 40 first graders, 67 second graders, 67 third graders, 66 fourth graders, and 80 fifth graders. Of this number, 85 (23.94%) will be White; 79 (22.25%) will be Black; 42 (11.83%) will be Asian; 1 (0.28%) will be American Indian; 132 (37.18%) will be Hispanic, and 16 (4.51%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. Of this total number, 206 (28.41%) will be White; 93 (12.83%) will be Black; 139 (19.17%) will be Asian; 1 (0.14%) will be American Indian; 254 (35.03%) will be Hispanic; and 32 (4.41%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. g. Garland High School's IB Program has 732 students enrolled in the fall. Included are 220 ninth graders, 184 tenth graders, 178 eleventh graders, and 150 twelfth graders. Of this total number, 185 (25.27%) will be White; 78 (10.66%) will be Black; 155 (21.17%) will be Asian; 7 (.96%) will be American Indian; 282 (38.52%) will be Hispanic; and 24 (3.28%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. h. At Jackson Middle School, there are currently 714 students enrolled in the MST component for the fall. Included will be 212 sixth graders, 251 seventh graders, and 251 eighth graders. Of this total number, 153 (21.43%) will be White; 116 (16.25%) will be Black; 133 (18.63%) will be Asian; 2 (0.28%) will be American Indian; 284 (39.78%) will be Hispanic; and 24 (3.36%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. i. At North Garland High School, there are currently 1029 students enrolled in the MST component for the fall. Included will be 367 ninth graders, 267 tenth graders, 230 eleventh graders, and 165 twelfth graders. Of this number, 162 (15.74%) will be White; 140 (13.61%) will be Black; 341 (33.14%) will be Asian; 5 (0.49%) will be American Indian; 365 (35.47%) will be Hispanic; and 16 (1.55%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. j. At The Classical Center at Vial Elementary School, there are currently 468 magnet students enrolled for the fall. Included will be 68 Kindergarteners, 73 first graders; 84 second graders, 83 third graders, 78 fourth graders, and 82 fifth graders. Of this number, 66 (14.10%) will be White; 84 (17.95%) will be Black; 24 (5.13%) will be Asian; 1 (0.21%) will be American Indian; 270 (57.69%) will be Hispanic; and 23 (4.91%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. k. At The Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School, there are currently 687 magnet students enrolled for the fall. Included will be 204 sixth graders, 238 seventh graders, and 245 eighth graders. Of the total number, 155 (22.56%) will be White; 112 (16.30%) will be Black; 45 (6.55%) will be Asian; 345 (50.22%) will be Hispanic; 2 (0.29%) will be American Indian; and 27 (3.93%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. l. Lakeview Centennial High School's College-Career-Connect component has 1,239 students enrolled in the fall. Included are 375 ninth graders, 310 tenth graders, 285 eleventh graders, and 269 twelfth graders. Of this total number, 240 (19.37%) will be White; 286 (23.08%) will be Black; 84 (6.78%) will be Asian; 2 (0.16%) will be American Indian; 590 (47.62%) will be Hispanic; and 37 (2.99%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. Included in the 451 students are 22 Early Childhood students, 45 Pre-K students, 59 Kindergartners, 58 first graders, 77 second graders, 71 third graders, 84 fourth graders, and 36 fifth graders. Of this number, 145 (32.15%) are White; 68 (15.08%) are African-American; 159 (35.25%) are Hispanic; 49 (10.86%) are Asian; 2 (0.44%) are American Indian; 1 (0.22%) are Pacific Islander; and 27 (5.99%) are two or more races or ethnicities. n. Luna Elementary School Montessori program has 361 students enrolled in the fall. Included in the 361 students are 31 Early Childhood students, 32 Pre-K students, 63 Kindergartners, 55 first graders, 48 second graders, 47 third graders, 49 fourth graders, and 36 fifth graders. Of this number, 131 (36.29%) are White; 58 (16.07%) are African-American; 90 (24.93%) are Hispanic; 55 (15.24%) are Asian; 3 (0.83%) are American Indian; 2 (0.55%) are Pacific Islander; and 22 (6.09%) are two or more races or ethnicities. o. Rowlett High School P-TECH component has 380 students enrolled in the fall. Included are 167 ninth graders, 149 tenth graders, 44 eleventh graders, and 20 twelfth graders. Of this total number, 107 (28.16%) will be White; 85 (22.37%) will be Black; 21 (5.53%) will be Asian; 156 (41.05%) will be Hispanic; and 10 (2.63%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. p. South Garland High School Collegiate Academy component has 318 students enrolled in the fall. Included are 181 ninth graders, 137 tenth graders, 0 eleventh graders, and 0 twelfth graders. This is a new program so there are currently no eleventh and twelfth grade sections for the 2020-2021 school year. Of this total number, 10 (3.14%) will be White; 38 (11.95%) will be Black; 3 (0.94%) will be Asian; 2 (0.63%) will be American Indian; 263 (82.70%) will be Hispanic; and 2 (0.63%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. q. Naaman Forest High School Collegiate Academy component has 487 students enrolled in the fall. Included are 199 ninth graders, 164 tenth graders, 69 eleventh graders, and 55 twelfth graders. Of this total number, 76 (15.61%) will be White; 89 (18.28%) will be Black; 61 (12.53%) will be Asian; 4 (0.82%) will be American Indian; 247 (50.72%) will be Hispanic; and 9 (1.85%) will be two or more races or ethnicities. See Exhibit 1. 4. Only 16.5% of our early elementary to twelfth grade students were identified as White on the Ethnicity/Race Questionnaire. Based on this data the district’s required ethnic-balance percentages extend from a low of 1.98% White to a high of 43.27% White. As a result of the preliminary 2020-2021 choice of school process, two campuses exceed the upper end of the ethnic band of 36.5%; Keeley Elementary School and Armstrong Elementary School.

As of December 10, 2019, Austin Academy has an enrollment of 994 students. Of this number, 717 are magnet students. Included are 333 sixth graders, 326 seventh graders, and 335 eighth graders. Of this number, 208 (20.93%) are White; 117 (11.77%) are African American; 477 (47.99%) are Hispanic; 158 (15.90%) are Asian; 3 (0.30%) are American Indian; 1 (0.10%) is Pacific Islanders; and 30 (3.02%) are two or more races or ethnicities. The school has a waiting list of 157 academy non-neighborhood students. b. As of December 10, 2019, Hillside Academy has an enrollment of 482 students. Of this number, 354 are magnet students. Included are 59 Kindergartners, 78 first graders, 78 second graders, 81 third graders, 84 fourth graders, and 102 fifth graders.
