安尼奧．馬沙度（Ennio Marchetto）生於威尼斯，童年時代就愛上了戲劇。少年時期受意大利即興喜劇及迪士尼電影的啟發，重新為傳統的威尼斯嘉年華設計服裝。他利用紙和塑膠等簡單的物料製造服飾，一舉走紅。此時，他正在藝術劇院的預備班修讀，同時又在他父親開設的咖啡機器修理店工作。

Ennio Marchetto Sosthen Hennekam Nascido em Veneza na vizinhança da casa de Carlo Goldoni, Ennio Sosthen Hennekam nasceu em Roosendaal en Nispen, na Holanda, Marchetto apaixonou-se pelo teatro quando era ainda criança. e foi para Paris em 1986 estudar design de guarda-roupa e moda no Studio Berçot. Sosthen Hennekam Sosthen Hennekam was born in Roosendaal en Nispen, the Netherlands, and moved to Paris in 1986 to study costume and fashion design at Studio Berçot.

Whilst studying he trained as a dressmaker in one of the “ateliers” for Christian Dior. During this time he also worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, Adeline André and Rei Kawakubo, and in 1987 he joined Thierry Mugler. He became the principal designer for the European, American and Japanese markets.

After a year and a half he moved to Italy, where he saw one of Ennio Marchetto’s early shows in Bologna and was introduced to the comic by mutual friends. Their first collaboration was devising new costumes for a TV show, and their partnership blossomed into the creation of an hour long show.

Sosthen’s fashion background enabled him to develop Ennio’s basic costumes into technically superior creations which could morph from one character to another on stage. Sosthen’s input also improved the durability and reliability of the costumes, which meant they were suitable for the demands of a stage show.

The repertoire was expanded to include international characters, and the show received its first European outing at the 1990 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show was a huge hit and went on to play seasons in London culminating in a West End run for which the show was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award, in the Best Entertainment category.

Sosthen has worked with Ennio ever since, and his input has become artistic rather than just technical. They develop new characters and routines together, and Sosthen also designs the soundtrack for the show, as well as as the lighting design.

The show has appeared on many TV networks around the world and was the subject of a 1993 documentary in England.

Sosthen is a resident of Los Angeles.
