Program Tour of Southern Norway August 12. – 15. 2018 Program Tour of Southern Norway August 12. – 15. 2018 Day 1 We will be starting the trip from Scandic Hotell Sørlandet at 12 noon. We will drive to Evje and visit Setesdal Mineral Park, arriving at 1 pm. There we will have a guided tour followed by lunch at the «Rallarbistro» at approximately 2 pm. Then we will drive for about one hour to Bygland where we will catch the ferry «Bjoren» down Byglandsfjord. The boat trip will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes. There we will be checking in to the Revsnes Hotel where we will be served dinner. Day 2 We will enjoy a nice breakfast and check out from the hotel will be at the latest at 8 am. The bus will be driving for about 2 hours and 45 minutes over the Suleskar Road and further on to Lysebotn. We will eat our packed lunches from the hotel on the bus. Coffee will be available and mineral water can be purchased on the bus. The Lysefjord ferry will leave from Lysebotn at 12 noon and take us out to Lauvik where we will get to see the Preachers Pulpit or Pulpit Rock. We will arrive at Lauvik at 2.45 pm. From there we will drive to Dirdal, which will take about 40 minutes, and there we will be checking into Byrkjedalstunet Hotel. Here there are several shops, for example a candle foundry, and at Byrkjedalstunet we find one of Norway’s biggest all year around Christmas shops, «juleloftet». At the «juleloft» we can enjoy beautiful Christmas decorations like angels, Christmas balls and Santa figurines. We will be served a two course dinner. If the group will be big, we will be served in the big hall, «Gloppenhallen». (Additional cost 200 NOK/person) Day 3 We will be served breakfast at Byrkjedalstunet Hotel and from there the bus will take us to «Gloppedalsura» with a local guide. There will be a tour up the rocky slope where a surprise will be waiting. The guide will tell us about the «Hulder» (Lady of the Woods) and Trolls and how the rocky slope was made and how it relates to important milestones in the Norwegian history. The bus will take us back to Byrkjedalstunet where we will gather at the area of the old summer houses, «stølene». Here the guide will give us a talk about the history of Byrkjedalstunet and «stølene». From there we will move into the great hall, «Gloppenhallen», where we will hear another talk about the origin of this great mountain hall and we will be entertained by some beautiful singing. Expect goose bumps! After this magic experience we will be served lunch at Byrkjedalstunet. From there we will travel to Stavanger, a bus journey of about 1 hour, and there we will check into Thon Hotel Stavanger. Dinner will be served later. The Thon Hotel is situated in the middle of the City Centre in Stavanger so you will easily be able to explore the city night life at your own leisure. Day 4 Breakfast and check out from the hotel, then we will meet up with a local guide on the bus who will give us a 1 hour sightseeing tour of Stavanger. The guide will remain on the bus as we drive along the beaches of Jæren to Egersund, a drive of about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Here the guide will leave us and we will drive on to Sogndalstrand in Hauge in Dalane. Here we will be met by an energetic lady who will give us a walking tour of the old shipping and trade town where we will learn about the history of the town in years past. 1 hour. We will then be served lunch at the Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell. After lunch we will drive on and meet our new local guide who will bring us into the areas of the company «Titania». This is one of Europe’s largest producers of the raw materials needed for the pigment industry. On our way here we will pass the two small houses situated under the mountain in Helleren. After this visit we will drive back to Kristiansand, 2 hours and 30 minutes. Tour price: 5.980 NOK/person, included all charges. The price is based on 45 people participating and accommodation in double rooms. Single room will be charged extra at a cost of 1.200 NOK/person. Leveringspålitelighet Litt om årsak til avbruddene I 2007 var det en periode i februar med mye snøfall på kort tid på Agder. Dette førte til størst problemer langs kysten med ising på linjene, tunge trær som førte til trefall og tunge linjer. I 2008 kom det mye snø på Agder i januar måned, og ved kysten kom det mye snø rundt påsketider som førte til avbrudd i elektrisitetsnettet. 2009 var et år med mye tordenvær og snø. Mange steder på Agder førte tordenvær til mer avbrudd enn f.eks. vind og snø. I 2010 var det også mye snø, men lave temperaturer gjorde at snøen var tørr, og derfor ikke skapte problemer i samme grad som foregående år.

Box 15, 2007 KJELLER Norway SULPHUR POLLUTANTS IN AIR AND PRECIPITATION AT NORWEGIAN BACKGROUND STATIONS Daily measurements November 1971 - June 1972. 1 INTRODUCTION In October 1971 NILU established a network of stations for determination of sulphur oxides and acidity in daily samples of air and precipitation. The measurements were part of the preparations for the OECD-project ''Long Range Transport of Air Pollutants" (LRTAP), in which ten countries in Western Europe participate. The project started officially on the 1st of July 1972, and NILU is responsible for the central coordination of the project. The purpose of the project is to clarify the connection between emissions, transportation and deposition of pollutants, particularly the sulphur compounds, in Europe. In the present report results from 23 Norwegian measuring stations are presented. Most of the stations are situated in the eastern and southern part of Norway, where the long range transport of pollutants is assumed to have the larger effect. One station is situated in Northern Norway, the rest in Southern Norway. The measurements include sulphur dioxide in air, sulphur calculated as sulphate in aerosols, and for precipitation the amount, the pH-value and the concentration of sulphate and strong acid.     Utsikten Landeskogen D5 Følg vegen mot Landeskogen. Landeskogen vart opna rundt 1916 for pasientar med tuberkulose. I åra etter opninga vart eit nett av turstiar opparbeide av personar på sysselsetting. Desse turstiane var lette å gå på for pasientane. Tuberkulosesenteret vart lagd ned i 1961, og i 1962 opna det opp att som senter for psykisk utviklingshemma. Den opphavlege ”Kjærlighetsstien” gjekk frå Byglandsfjorden opp til Utsikten, men seinare vart alle stiane til ”kjærlighetsstier” med alle beilarane som vitja søsterhjemmet Kåken. Stien er lett å gå, og frå toppen har ein flott utsikt over Byglandsfjorden. På turen ned att kan ein vitje freds- senteret på Landeskogen. Følg vegen ned att til parkeringsplassen, og sjå gjerne runesteinen ved Årdal kyrkje før de køyrer vidare. Follow the road to Landeskogen. Opened in 1916, this was originally a tuberculosis sanatorium. In the following years a network of paths was cleared by people on a job creation project. These paths were easy to walk and suited the patients well. The sanatorium was closed in 1961, and Landeskogen reopened in 1962 as a centre for the mentally disabled. The original “Love path” went from the fjord and up to Utsikten (the View- point), but later on, all paths turned into “love paths” – with all the suitors who visited the local nurses’ home at Landeskogen. The path is easy to walk, and from the top there is a magnificent view of the Byglandsfjord. On the way back you may visit the Landeskogen Peace Centre. Follow the road to the parking place, and feel free to study the runic stone at Årdal Church before you move on.
