JERUSALEM

Under the auspices of WHO'S WHO IN WORLD JEWRY

Monuments, Temples and Halls of Fame grace many a country showing proudly their contributions to mankind. The proposed JEWISH HALL OF FAME will fill a long-felt need in the Jewish world.

In encyclopedias and research compendia renowned Jewish men and women are claimed by other nations; Albert Einstein is German, Franz Kafka is Czech, Sigmund Freud is Austrian, Amadeo Modigliani is Italian, Pierre Mendes-France is French, DT. Jonas Edward Salk and George Gershwin are , Leslie Howard is British and Boris Spassky is Russian.

With the passage of time the accomplishments of great Jews and their role as part of Jewry's contribution to culture and civilization diminish to the point of oblivion

The educational value of THE JEWISH HALL OF FAME surpasses its symbolic significance (Visitors from all parts of the world will learn about the life histories of eminent Jews. The awareness of our heritage will strengthen the ties between Israel and the Jewish communities in other countries. The younger generation - students and youth groups - will rediscover their roots and identification with what the Jewish people contributed to the progress of humanity in all fields of endeavor.

An Honorary International Board and Advisory Panels of Experts are now being constituted to plan this monumental institution, its contents, design and structure as a repository of Jewish heritage and knowledge. Special panels will be formed to set up standards and criteria, perhaps in stages, i.e. beginning with modern history and continuing with programs for the presentation of the achievements of great Jews through the ages.

Statement by Prof. Ephraim Katzir, President of Israel, about

the proposed JEWISH HALL OF FAME

"There would be something deeply moving and most fitting about having such a vivid reminder of the disproportionately great Jewish contribution to human civilization set. up in Jerusalem, the capital of the revived Jewish Commonwealth." HONORARY ADVISORY BOARD ( in formation )
