Code of Honor

ALL products (except for fountain beverages) must be entered into the register prior to consumption. Taking or consuming any food products without purchasing them is viewed as theft. We will approve 1 meal per shift while working which will be given during your /lunch time. We anticipate hiring honest people and we have a No Theft policy. In the event that an employee

does steal from the store (cash, food products, equipment, time, etc.), that employee will be terminated. If you steal, you will get caught and such crimes will be reported to the police and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Some employees will be given a key to the store which will allow them to open or close without a manager or owner present. By accepting the store key, you are agreeing to use it for work purposes only. Any employee caught entering the store (with or without a key) after hours (without immediate approval from owner or manager) will be terminated immediately and reported to the police.

Uniforms Each part time employee will be supplied with two Jersey Mike’s shirts and one hat/visor. Each - full time employee will be supplied with three Jersey Mike’s shirts and one hat/visor. If you wish to - purchase additional uniforms or hats, please discuss this with your general manager. If you choose to leave Jersey Mike’s, please return the uniform shirt(s) and hat/visor to the manager. If they are not returned after leaving with Jersey Mikes the cost of items will be deducted from your final check. All employees are required to arrive at the store ready to work, which means being in full uniform (shirt tucked in, buttons buttoned, and hat/visor on).

Uniform Requirements: ● Jersey Mike’s polo shirt (all buttons except the top one must be buttoned). The polo shirts must be tucked in (female cut shirts are permitted to remain un tucked). - - ● Jersey Mike’s hat or visor must be worn properly – never backward or sideways. ● A solid colored black belt must be worn at all times. Standard buckle size required. ● Long khaki pants must be worn – NO cargos, denim, or shorts. Only slacks or chinos are permitted. ● If an undershirt is worn, it must be solid white. If you are wearing a long sleeve undershirt, it must be navy blue and fit tight to the arm (loose clothing is an occupational hazard). ● Approved non slip black shoes are required and white or black socks must be worn. -

Hair: ● All long hair must be pulled back away from the face (ponytail if long enough) and tucked under your hat. ● All hair styles should be professional in appearance. ● All employees must be cleanly shaven. Facial hair is not allowed.

Jewelry & Tattoos: ● Any tattoos that are offensive in nature must be covered. ● One stud earring can be worn in each ear while on the clock, and the earring must not exceed the size of a U.S. dime. All other piercings must be removed while on the clock. ● Bracelets, watches, and necklaces are not permitted (occupational hazard). ● Rings: Only wedding rings/bands are permitted to be worn.

Personal Hygiene: ● Daily bathing is required. ● Uniforms must be clean for each scheduled shift. ● Wash hands, arms, and fingernails with soap before reporting to work stations, after restroom breaks, and anytime hands may be soiled. ● Protective gloves are required. ● Wash hands after touching face, hair, or clothing. ● Wash hands after coughing or sneezing. Wash hands after running them through hair or touching hair. ● Washing hands after using the restroom is one of the most important sanitary things you can do. You may be reminded when coming from the restroom. This is not meant to offend anyone; it's only meant to keep a safe working environment. ● If sick, you must notify your manager immediately.

Smoking Policy: The use of tobacco is not permitted in uniform. Any breaks must be approved by the manager. If you smoke, please remove your apron, hat, and change out of your Jersey Mike’s uniform shirt. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside of the store. The use of smokeless chewing tobacco and vapor e cigarettes are prohibited and follow same guidelines as regular tobacco - products

Schedule

Work The work schedule will be posted at least two days in advance on the employee bulletin board. Everyone is responsible for knowing his or her work schedule. If you need a day off, you must request this before the schedule is posted. Check with your manager for his/her deadline. Your manager will do his/her best to accommodate your schedule, but the more notice you give, the easier it will be. If you need time off on short notice and the schedule is already posted, you are responsible for finding someone to cover your shift with manager’s approval.

Being on Time We work as a team and this requires that each of us be in the right place at the right time. If you are going to be late for work or absent, you must notify your manager at least 24 hours prior to your expected starting time. Being on time means being in full uniform, with apron on, and ready to work by the time you were scheduled according to the register’s clock. You may not clock in unless you are ready to work.

Important Items

Parking The parking lot in front of the store needs to be available for customers. Each store has different policies on parking so make sure you check with your manager before arriving for your first shift. Jersey Mike’s Manchester, CT | Employee Handbook 3

If you park in a space that is reserved for customers, your manager will ask you to move your car to an appropriate spot.

Phones Telephones in the restaurant are provided for the purpose of business only. If a non business call - is necessary, it should be informational in nature and brief. You may not have your cell phone out at any time and the ringer must be kept on silent. If you must use your cell phone, you must request to do so from your manager.

Employee Discounts All employees (managers and owners included) will receive 50% off all food products on or off the - clock for themselves only. Any employee who works six hours or more for a shift will receive a free regular sub. When ordering their meals, employees must take off their apron and order in line as a customer. These subs must be tracked on our bread tracking form and entered in the register using the EMPLOYEE FREE SUB BUTTON. Fountain beverages will be free to all employees when in store crew cups are used. The employee discount is non transferable, meaning that if a crew - - member brings friends or family into the store and purchases food for the group, the employee will receive 50% off their product and will pay full price for the additional products ordered by the rest of the group. All products, no matter how big or small, must be recorded in our register.

Paydays Paydays will vary from store to store. Paychecks will not be given out between 11:00am 2:00pm, - or between 4:45pm 7:00pm, during our peak business hours. -

Tips Tips will be dispersed in pay checks using the following equation: Cash tips + credit card tips (from the POS) = TOTAL Tips Collected Total Tips Collected/Total Hours worked (from the POS) = $ Per Hour to be included in employee paycheck

Individual Employee Hours X $ Per Hour = Total Tips to be added to employee paycheck

Deduction and Withholding Each employee must fill out state and local tax forms prior to his/her first day of work. These tax forms will help your employer determine the amount to withhold from each paycheck for state and federal taxes, social security, , and Medicare.

Employees Under 18 It is illegal for any person under the age of 18 to operate the slicer used at Jersey Mike’s to slice anything in our stores. If you are under 18, you may not operate, move, or even touch the slicer at any time. You are required to sign a form stating that you are aware of this fact and that you agree to abide by the law. If another employee asks you to touch the slicer for any reason, let them know that you are legally not able to do so. If any employee under the age of 18 is caught using or touching the slicer at any time, they will be terminated. All employees 18 and older must be properly trained first before operating the slicer.

Performance Evaluations Periodically, managers will perform evaluations on employees. The goal of the is an agreement between the manager and employee as to the strengths and weaknesses in the employee's performance. We want to reinforce good performance and establish a plan for improving poor performance. will be reviewed no less than once a year.

We will document on our Employee Evaluation Form instances of good and poor performance. These forms will become part of your permanent employee record.

Customer and Public Relations Our company's reputation has been built on excellent service and quality food. Maintaining this reputation requires the active participation of every employee.

The opinions and attitudes that customers have toward our company can be influenced by the actions of one employee. It is sometimes easy to take a customer for granted, but when we do, we run the risk of losing not only that customer, but also his or her associates, friends, or family.

When customers come into our restaurant, they have the right to enjoy their meals without being bothered. For this reason, there is no solicitation of any type permitted in our stores by any employee or customer. If you observe any disturbance of customers or employees or distribution of literature, you should notify your manager immediately.

All customer complaints are to be handled by a manager. Whether a mistake is made on a customer's order, or a customer feels that a mistake was made, it is very important that you respond immediately through your manager or shift .

Each employee must be sensitive to the importance of providing courteous treatment in all working relationships.

Harassment and intimidation can be blatant or subtle, verbal or non verbal. While it is not - easy to define all that would be considered harassment or intimidation, it certainly includes slurs, epithets, threats, staring, unwanted touching, requests for sexual favors, derogatory comments or visual depictions, unwelcome jokes and teasing.

If you feel you have been subjected to sexual harassment or intimidation, you should contact your manager for immediate assistance. All complaints of sexual harassment will be promptly and confidentially investigated.

Anyone found to be in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Social Media You are not permitted to post to any social media site while clocked in or while in Jersey Mike’s uniform or other Jersey Mike’s logoed attire.

Media Protocol If you are contacted by the media (local, regional, national, trade or other) please take down the pertinent information, thank the person, and let them know you will be giving the information to Jersey Mike’s public relations to respond. Then contact your Operations Director to make them aware of the media request.

Immigration Reform and Control Act As a new employee, you are required to provide documentation which verifies your identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Your manager will provide further clarification as to what documents will suffice.

If You Must Leave Us If you decide to end your employment with us, please notify your manager in writing, providing a minimum two weeks’ notice. We ask that you return your Jersey Mike’s shirt(s) and hat/visor prior to receiving your final paycheck, otherwise the cost of the items will be deducted from your final paycheck.

Unemployment Compensation The purpose of unemployment insurance is to provide financial assistance for people who lose their and remain unemployed through no fault of their own. Jersey Mike’s Company Store Division pays for this protection. Should you become unemployed through no fault of your own, you may apply to the state for unemployment compensation. Specific requirements, which must be met, will be explained at the time of application.

Worker’s Compensation You are covered by Worker's Compensation as soon as you start to work. This covers you in case you are accidentally injured on the and cannot work. The company pays for this protection, however, does not determine eligibility. If you are injured at work, please notify your supervisor immediately. If your injury causes you to miss work, you may make a claim for

payment with the Bureau of Worker's Compensation for your state.

Social Security Social Security is more than a paycheck deduction. It assists in financial security for you and your dependents. Although this is a federally established program, it is your contributions, and the company's, that pay for this benefit. These funds are then forwarded to the federal government to support the Social Security Program.

Both you and Jersey Mike’s Company Store Division contribute to Social Security to provide you with monthly checks and medical coverage once you reach age.

Alcohol and Drugs Jersey Mike’s Company Store Division takes drug and alcohol use seriously and believes that drugs and alcohol and the effects of their use have no place on our premises. The use, influence, sale, or possession of illegal drugs, controlled substances, or alcohol during work hours will result in disciplinary action on the first offense up to and including termination.

Possession of paraphernalia used in connection with any drug, alcohol, or substance subject to this rule shall be evidence of violation of this rule.

You are also prohibited from reporting to work under the influence of any drugs or substance of whatever type or legality that impairs your ability to perform your job.

We reserve the right to require employees to take drug or alcohol tests where there is a reasonable suspicion that the policy has been violated. The company reserves the right to search work areas, packages, the employee and the employee's possessions on company property when there is a reasonable suspicion that the policy has been violated. Refusal to cooperate with the foregoing will constitute an independent violation of this policy.

Safety

It is important that we provide a safe experience for both our customers and ourselves. You must work safely in the daily restaurant practices and in the preparation of serving of food. Please remember that working safely and knowing how to deal with all situations can prevent injury to you, another employee, or a customer. With this in mind, we have outlined some simple safety practices that must be followed every day. If you have any questions regarding safety, please consult your manager.

● In case of emergency, call 911. ● The safety of the customer and fellow employees is everyone's responsibility. ● Immediately notify your manager of any potentially hazardous situations. ● If you see something unsafe, correct it if possible. If not, inform your manager Immediately.

● Do not tamper or handle any electrical equipment that is outside of your general Duties. ● When lifting heavy objects, use the large muscles of the leg instead of the small muscles of the back. ● When personal protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.) is required, it must be Worn. ● Keep exits and pathways clear at all times. ● Maintain an 18 inch clearance between ceilings or sprinkler heads and stacks of boxes. - ● Keep a 36 inch clearance around electrical switch boxes and water heaters. - ● Use ladders or step stools when reaching for objects on shelving. Never stand on shelving, chairs, or boxes to reach it. ● If you see a spill, clean it up immediately and always put down a "Wet Floor" sign to prevent any accidents from occurring. ● Follow all Board of Health and Sanitation guidelines. ● If you are under 18 years of age, you are NOT permitted to operate or clean any bakery mixers, sheeters, slicers, graters, or grinders without direct supervision of a manager according to minor labor laws. ● Unplug all electrical items before cleaning them. ● Store all food products at least 6 inches off the floor. ● Never clean or operate any piece of equipment without first being trained on how to do so. ● Report all injuries immediately to your manager.

Fire Safety: ● Know the location of all fire extinguishers and how to use them. ● Keep fire extinguishers accessible. ● Report any use of a fire extinguisher immediately to your manager. ● In case of fire, inform your manager.

Chemical Safety: ● Federal law requires that you be trained on all chemicals before using them and that this training be documented. ● Follow all instructions for the proper use of chemicals. ● If protective equipment is required when using a chemical, it is to be worn. ● Never use an unlabeled chemical. ● Never use a chemical that you have not been trained on. ● Never mix any chemicals together. ● Every employee should review the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) when there are questions concerning the hazard communication data of any chemical. SDS sheets can be obtained from your supervisor. ● If you have any questions pertaining to the use or type of a chemical, don't hesitate to consult your manager.

Food Safety

Ensuring food safety is our business. Employees should use the following information as a guide for safe food preparation and handling.

Temperatures: ● Cold foods must be stored at 40°F or below. ● Hot foods must be stored at 135°F or above. ● The range of temperatures between 40°F and 135°F is referred to as the "Temperature Danger Zone" because bacteria and other microorganisms grow rapidly in this range.

Cleanliness and Sanitation: ● Clean and sanitize all work surfaces before and after each use. ● Use separate work areas for raw and cooked foods.

● Wash hands between the handling of raw and cooked foods. Use separate utensils for each food product. ● Smoking is not permitted in any storage, preparation, or serving area.

Cooling and Storing Foods: When cooling bulky foods, they should be broken into smaller, flat, shallow containers. All food should be labeled and dated when storing them. All food should be stored at least 6 inches off the floor. Foods are only to be reheated one time. When reheating a food product, the temperature should reach 165°F.

While it is not possible to put everything into writing, we anticipate that this handbook will provide you with general information concerning your employment.

The programs outlined in this handbook should be regarded as guidelines, which in a growing business like Jersey Mike’s Company Store Division will require changing from time to time. Jersey Mike’s Company Store Division retains the right to make decisions involving policies and procedures as needed in order to conduct its work in a manner that is beneficial to the employees, customers and our company. Due to changing business conditions, any stated policy and procedure is subject to change at any time. Your manager/supervisor is the primary reference source for more detailed information.
