Implementation Status and Key Decisions

Public Disclosure Authorized The project was restructured by the World Bank to make use of loan savings to further strengthen project outcomes, and extend its closing date by 18 months to December 31, 2022. The project is making steady progress toward achieving its objective of conserving critical cultural heritage sites and improving water quality and tourism services in Jingzhou Municipality. Conservation works in two cultural heritage sites have been completed and works on three additional sites are ongoing. The moat water quality meets the expected standards as a result of project-financed dredging of the moat and lakes as well as installation of wastewater interceptors. In addition, all 28 bus stops and 12 pedestrian crossings in the Historic Town

have been upgraded as planned. The satisfaction rate of tourists from tourism services in project areas is around 80%. The project has benefited a total of 704,000 residents and tourists, 50% of whom are women, exceeding final target of 682,000 beneficiaries.
