AOS is the database of record for approved Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) and Table of Distribution and Allowance (TDA) documents. The Officer Position Book is updated on an annual basis as new MTOEs and TDAs are implemented. The book is organized by officer classification functional categories. The purpose of the book is to give officers at every rank an overview of career and promotion opportunities across all branches and all units. It should also be used as a tool by raters, senior raters, and mentors when counseling officers on their long term plans and goals within the KSARNG. Comments, questions, or suggestions on the Officer Position Book should be addressed to the KSARNG Officer Personnel Management Branch at [email protected]. 4 KSARNG Officer Position Roll-up Branch Branch Descriptions LT CPT MAJ LTC COL Air Defense Artillery AD (14A) 0 1 0 0 0 Adjutant General AG (42B, 42H) 5 6 5 1 2 AMEDD Immaterial AI (05A) 0 0 4 1 2 Army Nurse Corps AN (66B, 66H) 0 3 5 1 0 Armor AR (19A) 8 2 0 0 0 Aviation AV (15A, 15B, 15D, 67J Series) 8 12 8 3 1 Branch Immaterial BI (01A, 01C) 3 25 31 27 9 Civil Affairs CA (38A) 0 0 1 0 0 Chaplain Corps CH (56A) 0 7 6 1 1 Combat Arms Immaterial CI (02A, 02B) 4 13 9 7 1 Chemical Corps CM (74A) 4 3 0 0 0 Cyber Corps CY (17B) 0 1 2 1 0 Dental Corps DC (63A, 63R) 0 1 3 1 0 Corps of Engineer EN (12A) 15 12 6 2 1 Field Artillery FA (13A) 29 26 9 4 1 Force Management FD (50A) 0 0 2 0 0 Financial Management FI (36A) 0 2 2 1 0 Infantry IN (11A) 5 3 0 0 0 Information Operations IO (30A) 0 1 2 1 0 Judge Advocate General JA (27A) 0 11 7 2 2 Logistics LG (90A) 0 32 16 5 0 Medical Corps MC (60A, 60W, 61N, 62B) 0 6 8 2 0 Military Intelligence MI (35D, 35F, 35E, 35G) 2 10 5 1 0 Military Police MP (31A) 4 3 0 0 0 Medical Service Corps (70) MS (70 series, 72 series) 8 8 11 1 0 Ordnance Corps OD (91A) 18 0 0 0 0 Operations Research OR (49A) 0 0 1 1 0 Public Affairs PA (46A) 0 4 3 2 0 Psychological Operations PO (37A) 0 1 0 0 0 Quartermaster Corps QM (92A) 6 0 0 0 0 Army Acquisition Corps RD (51C) 0 1 1 0 0 Signal Corps SC (25A, 25G) 2 8 2 0 0 Information Network Engineering SE (26B) 0 1 0 0 0 Strategic Plans and Policy Officer SJ (59A) 0 0 2 1 0 Simulation Operations SM (57A) 0 1 2 2 0 Medical Specialist Corps SP (65D, 65B) 1 7 9 1 0 Transportation Corps TC (88A) 14 0 0 0 0 Total 598 136 211 162 69 20 5 OPERATIONS DIVISION This functional category gathers maneuver branches and functional areas (FA) that have similar battlefield application or complementary roles. There is only one ADA position available in Kansas. Kansas does not have an ADA unit or the force structure to organically grow an ADA officer. This branch is not available for brand new commissionees. This branch may provide a good broadening opportunity for a combat arms officer to expand their skill set, but opportunities to serve in this branch are limited and do not exist in Kansas beyond the rank of Captain. Interested senior Lieutenants or junior Captains can gain qualification through a 2-week transition course, or through the Captain’s Career Course. Officers who wish to be promoted beyond the rank of Captain must seek qualification in another branch or compete for Combat Immaterial or Branch Immaterial positions.
