They have taught me invaluable things about Art History, the field of museums, and the world in general. 3 Abstract In my thesis, Wendy Red Star: Challenging Colonial Histories and Foregrounding the Impact of Violence Against Indigenous Women, I analyze two of Red Star’s photographic series, Four Seasons and White Squaw. I argue that Red Star uses irony, humor, parody, and erasure to challenge stereotypes and misrepresentations of Indigenous lives. In Four Seasons, Red Star uses irony and humor to critique historically marginalized images in museum exhibitions, and the stereotypes created as a result of visions of empty land, ethnographic photography, and commercialization of Indigenous cultures. -

Respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; not to use force or threaten to use force in international relations; equal and mutually beneficial cooperation; the peaceful settlement of disputes and disputes are core principles and values of international law, the Charter of the United Nations; achievements and efforts of all nations in the world, including Vietnam. With the historical approach, the article in-depth clarifies a number of prominent points in Ho Chi Minh's thought about war prevention, settlement of disputes, disputes by peaceful means and their application in fight to protect the sovereignty and legitimate interests of Vietnam in the East Sea. Latin America—US feared Soviets might try to spread communism there US first then the USSR tested nuclear bombs 1954—CIA overthrew Guatemala gov’t to replace with US friendly one 1957—Soviet uses ballistic missiles armed with nuclear warheads. US lags behind in missile technology. Soviets also launch Sputnik, 1st satellite to orbit the earth—this leads to the space race. -

They first discuss the position of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, who did not want to investigate the leaker, Daniel Ellsberg, because of his friendship with Ellsberg's father-in-law. Nixon descries some of the "softheads" in his administration who want him to go easy on Ellsberg. He notes that they need to "get the son of a b*tch" or else "wholesale thievery" would happen all over the government. Letter from Senator Joseph McCarthy to the President of the United States This letter from Senator Joseph McCarthy, Republican representative of Wisconsin, to President Harry Truman was written three days after McCarthy’s famous Wheeling Speech. This speech signaled McCarthy’s rise to influence, as he gained national attention by producing a piece of paper on which he claimed he had listed the names of 205 members of the Communist Party working secretly in the U.S. State Department. McCarthy was, at the time of this letter, beginning to exploit national concerns about Communist infiltration during the Cold War. This fear of infiltration was intensified by the Soviet Union’s recent development of the atomic bomb and the coming Communist takeover of China. “McCarthyism” however was not yet at its peak. Senator McCarthy here at first encourages President Truman to commit more resources to the war of containment being fought in South Korea, and secondly questioned the legitimacy and effectiveness of Truman’s loyalty program, signed into effect by Executive Order 9835 in 1947. This program required the FBI to run checks on almost anyone involved in the U.S. government and subsequently to launch investigations into any government employee with what could be presumed as questionable political associations. The Loyalty Program was not enough to satisfy Senator McCarthy, who suspected that a number of subversives had slipped through the investigation and remained in the State Department. President Truman made it clear that he would not take McCarthy’s accusations seriously and that the Senator was “the best asset the Kremlin has.”109 July 12, 1950 The President The White House Washington, D. -

Helal∗ INTRODUCTION 2017 was a busy year for the United Nations Security Council. It held 296 formal meetings during which it adopted sixty-one Resolutions, passed twenty- seven Presidential Statements, and issued ninety-three Press Statements. These meetings, resolutions, and statements addressed a variety of issues, ranging from the politically profound, such as the North Korean nuclear weapons program, to the prosaic and the procedural, such as receiving routine reports from the U.N. bureaucracy, renewing the mandates of longstanding U.N. peacekeeping operations, and electing Judges to the International Court of Justice.1 Whenever it acted promptly to preempt the outbreak of war or to resolve an international crisis, the Security Council was applauded for its effectiveness and its members were commended for their unity in confronting threats to international peace and security. -

Working Paper No. 34 / November 2012 Reviewing Member States’ Commitment to the European External Action Service Abstract Based on interviews with diplomats from a representative cross-section of nine member states and members of the EEAS itself, the research findings of this EPIN Working Paper confirm long-standing traditions and member state perceptions of cooperation with European institutions. The paper also reveals new aspects of the intergovernmental method of foreign policy shaping and making in the European Union; in particular how different national positions can positively or negatively affect the consolidation of the EEAS and the role of the EU as an international actor. As such, the Working Paper makes an original contribution to the existing literature on one of most discussed actors in the European Union’s post-Lisbon architecture in the domain of EU external action.
