Power generation in India is unevenly distributed because hydro resources are available in Himalayan region, while fossil fuel resources are available in the central and western parts. For optimization of these resources, the power systems in our country were categorized into five power regions in the 1960s (Ramanathan and Abeygunawardena, 2007).
