The Gospel is the Good News about . The Gospel Reading for today is from Saint Luke 13:22-30.

How many people will go to heaven? All people, most people, some people

or just a few people?

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is asked that very question. In response, he picks none of the choices listed above. Instead he says, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.” Color the picture.

The “gate” Jesus talks about is really the path we must take to get to heaven. Jesus tells us that it is not always an easy path. To follow it, we must try very hard to live as Jesus did and to obey God’s rules. We must go to Mass, share with other people, love others and take care of those in need. We must be willing to make sacrifices and sometimes to suffer for what we believe in.

The question the person in the bible story should have asked is not how many people will go to heaven, but am I doing all that I can do to live like Jesus, to love others and to follow God’s rules?

MISSION OF THE WEEK Try your best to

 obey your parents without complaint

 do something nice for someone without telling them who did it
