Eecites Order WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date the Tenth day in Council of of August, 1922, and known as the Palestine Order in Council, 10th August, ­provision was made for the appointment by Us, by a Com ,1922 .1922־ mission under Our Sign Manual and Signet, of a fit person to administer the Government of Palestine under the designation of High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief or such other de­ signation as We might think fit :

Appointment of Now know you that We do, by this Our Commission under Our Sir H. A. Mac Sign Manual and Signet, appoint you, the said SIR HAROLD Michael, K.C.M.G.. D.S.O., to be High ALFRED MACMICHAEL, to be, during Our pleasure, Our High Commissioner Commissioner for Palestine and Our Commander-in-Chief therein, and Commander- with all such powers and authorities as may be necessary for the in-Chief. due execution of the provisions contained in the above-recited Order in Council, or in any other Order or Orders in Council adding to, amending, or substituted for the same, according to such Orders and Instructions as Our said High Commissioner and Commander- in-Chief for the time being may have received, or as you may hereafter receive from Us.

WHEREAS by a Commission under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet bearing date the 2nd of February, 1938, His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to appoint me, HAROLD ALFRED MACMICHAEL, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Dis­ tinguished Service Order, to be High Commissioner for Palestine and Commander- in-Chief therein, and did further command all and singular the Public Officers and people of Palestine, and all others whom it may concern to take due notice hereof and to give their ready obedience accordingly.

Now, THEREFORE, I, HAROLD ALFRED MACMICHAEL,. do hereby proclaim that, having taken the prescribed Oaths, I have this day entered upon the duties of the Office of High Commissioner for Palestine and Commander-in-Chief therein, and I do hereby enjoin all officers of the Government, civil and military, and all the inhabitants of Palestine to take notice thereof and to give their ready obedience accordingly:
