En 1989 toma el mando del equipo chileno de Copa Davis, que dirigió por 11 años. • HANS GILDEMEISTER Se corona campeón con 14 años del Orange Gold de Miami, 1970 Estados Unidos. Repite la hazaña en 1971 y 1972. • SE INAUGURA COURT CENTRAL DE ESTADIO NACIONAL 1976 Para la final de la Copa Davis entre Italia y Chile. • JAIME FILLOL y PATRICIO CORNEJO. Ganan la final de dobles de Indianapoilis, Estados Unidos. 1977 • JUEGOS ODESUR EN CHILE. En tenis hubo 5 medallas: Juan Pablo Queirolo consiguió oro; Sergio Cortés 1986 plata en singles y en dobles junto a Rubén Gajardo. En single damas Paulina Sepúlveda obtuvo plata y Macarena Miranda bronce. • PRIMER ATP EN CHILE Organizado por los hermanos Jaime y Álvaro Fillol con sede en Santiago. 1993 Hoy lleva el nombre de VTR OPEN y se juega en Viña del Mar. 1994 • PRIMER CAMPEONATO DE TENIS EN SILLA DE RUEDAS. Creado a iniciatica de Doris y Hans Gildemeister. • MARCELO «CHINO» RÍOS Alcanza el Nº1 del ranking de la ATP. En 1993 había alcanzado la cima del tenis mundial, tras su triunfo en US Open. 1998 El 2003 participa por última vez en el Torneo Roland Garros. • NICOLÁS MASSÚ En 2004 se retira del tenis profesional. Obtiene medalla de Oro en dobles (junto a FERNANDO 2004 GONZÁLEZ) y en individuales en los Juegos Olímpicos Atenas 2004. El 2013 se retira del tenis profesional. • FERNANDO GONZÁLEZ Gana medalla de plata en Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing. 2008 El año anterior obtiene su mejor ranking ATP: número 5. Se retira el 2012. • CECILIA ACOSTA 2010 Se corona campeona de singles y dobles en los Juegos Odesur en Medellín, Colombia. • CHRISTIAN GARÍN Gana el torneo Roland Garros juvenil. Además, se convirtió 2013 en el jugador chileno más joven en ganar un partido ATP. • JULIO PERALTA Y HANS PODLIPNIK EN OLIMPIADAS DE RÍO 2016 Únicos dos chilenos en tenis.     A continuación detallaremos algunos de los principales hitos del tenis nacional: 1882: En la ciudad de Valparaíso específicamente en el cerro de las Zorras, es creada la primera cancha de tenis en Chile, por una iniciativa del ciudadano inglés MR. Cox. Así como la creación de la primera cancha, después aparecieron la de mister James, en Las Salinas, de mister Hardy, en el camino Cintura, y de mister Shuterland, en la calle del Hospital Inglés. Evidentemente, no se trataba de canchas comparables con las de hoy, sino de ripio, con improvisadas líneas de tablas, o de zunchos clavados con grapas. 1898: El primer vestigio de organización se encuentra en Valparaíso, con la fundación de los clubes International Club y Viña del Mar Lawn Tenis Club. Los datos del desplazamiento del tenis hacia Santiago también son imprecisos, aunque Carlos Ossandon postula que la primera cancha de la capital la instaló un extranjero de apellido Denier, en Avenida Independencia. 1904: En la ciudad de Santiago se crea el primer club del que se tiene registro "Royal Lawn Tennis Club", que funciona hasta hoy con el nombre de "Santiago Lawn Tennis Club", se encuentra ubicado al interior del Parque O'Higgins. Allí creció el talento y la fama de Aurelio Lizana Vera, tío de Anita Lizana, quien fuera cuidador, pasapelotas y cantinero, y llegó a ser uno de los mejores tenistas del país. En esos años también nacieron el Prince of Wales Country Club y el Stade Français, este último de la fusión entre la Societé Française de Lawn Tennis, fundada en 1905, y el Sport Français, de 1924.
