The colour of the IDS flag is a synthesis of the three colours Red, Navy Blue and Blue of the three services viz Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force respectively. It depicts the crest in the centre. 2 APRIL 2019 INDIA- RAWANDA DEFENCE COOPERATION Col Justus Majyambere, Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor, Rwanda Defence Force, Command & Staff College (RDF CSF) called on Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM,VSM, CISC in his office on 01 Apr 19. Both discussed important matters concerning Defence Cooperation and Security issues. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS PRESENTATION - 74th DSSC Maj Marcelo Lopse de Rezende of Federative Republic of Brazil & Maj Lissoe Nijogomie Murra of United Republic of Tanzania showcased their countries at DSSC, Wellington. Capt Robson Neves Fernandes, Defence Attaché of Brazil was also present. 3 INDIA-SRI LANKA DEFENCE DIALOGUE Indian Defence Ministry delegation led by Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra along with Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM, VSM, CISC visited Sri Lanka. The delegation called on the President of Sri Lanka Maitripala Sirisena on 08 Apr 19 as part of India-Sri Lanka Defence Dialogue. The delegation also paid homage to the gallant Indian personnel who made the supreme sacrifice at IPKF Memorial, Battaramulla. CISC also called on Chief of Defence Staff, Sri Lanka, Adm Ravindra Wijegunaratne and Chiefs of Staff of Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and Navy on 08 Apr 19 as part of the Defence Dialogue. 4 INDIA-BANGLADESH DEFENCE DIALOGUE Indian Defence Ministry delegation led by Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra visited Bangladesh and met Prime Minister Mrs Sheikh Hasina on 11 Apr 19 as part of the Defence Dialogue . Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM, VSM, CISC called on the Principal Staff Officer, Head of Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh, Lt Gen Md Mahfuzur Rahman as part of the Defence Dialogue. ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR COMMAND Gen Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Mrs Madhulika Rawat, President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) visited Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) on a three day visit from 15 Apr 19. COAS was given an overview on joint services and Strategic aspects of the Andaman & Nicobar Command and was briefed on the Army Component’s operational preparedness and amphibious capabilities in the Islands. 5 CONVOCATION OF 74th STAFF COURSE Convocation ceremony for 74th Staff Course was conducted at DSSC, Wellington on 19 Apr 19. Chief guest, Honourable Lt Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd) presented awards to meritorious Student Officers. Commandant DSSC presented ‘Psc’ certificate to 474 Student Officers including 38 International Officers from 28 Nations. RAISING DAY MILIT 4th Raising Day of Tri-Services Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) was celebrated at Pune & was graced by Lt Gen PJS Pannu, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of IDS as the Chief Guest. Event culminated with tunes of martial band and was attended by alumni, veterans and distinguished guests. 6 INTERACTION WITH PANJAB UNIVERSITY Lt Gen PJS Pannu, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of Integrated Def Staff delivered a talk on ‘Understanding Future Warfare’ to the PhD Scholars/ Students & Faculty of Department of Strategic Studies, Panjab University on 18 Apr 19. CYBER X Directorate of Indian Defence University, HQ IDS organised a two day Cyber Exercise on ‘Scenario Building & Response’ on 29 & 30 April 19 at New Delhi for middle & senior level officers from Service HQs, NSCS, CERT-IN, NIC, DRDO, academia & industry. 7 MAY 2019 WORKSHOP ON SPACE WARFARE AND TECHNOLOGY Directorate of IDU facilitated by MILIT conducted a two day workshop on ‘Space Warfare and Technology’ on 02 & 03 May 19. More than 100 middle and senior level officers from Service HQs, HQ IDS, academia & industry attended the work- shop conducted by eminent speakers from ISRO, DRDO, IIT’s, think tanks and industry. ARMY WAR COLLEGE Lt Gen PJS Pannu, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of IDS delivered a talk on 07 May 19 to the Indian & Foreign Participants undergoing Higher Defence Orientation Course at Army War College, Mhow on ‘Understanding Future Warfare & the need for transformation of Armed Forces to meet the challenges’. 8 ENGAGEMENT OF ARMED FORCES WITH ACADEMIA & INDUSTRY Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM, VSM, CISC delivered a talk on the ‘Engagement of Armed Forces with Academia & Industry’ to progress defence R&D and production during the Directors Conclave at Defence Laboratory IRDE, Dehradun on 08 May 19. VALEDICTORY FUNCTION Lt Gen SK Saini, AVSM, YSM, VSM, GOC-in-C Southern Command delivered Valedictory address to Defence Services Tech Staff Course & Naval Tech Staff Course at Military Institute of Technology, Pune & felicitated 136 Tri-Service Student Officers on graduating from the portals of MILIT. 9 CISC TOURS FORWARD AREAS Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM, VSM, CISC visited Chetak Corps and Air Force Station Bhisiana on 22 May 19. He interacted with the GOC, Officers and troops of Chetak Corps, Artillery formations and trainees at Air Force station Bhisiana. CISC also visited Chinar Corps Zone from 26 to 28 May 19. He interacted with GOC Chinar Corps & Gunner Officers of the formation. He visited a number of forward Gun Areas & Regimental locations. CISC interacted with troops & exhorted them to keep up the good work . 10 INAUGURATION OF ASHWAMEDHA TRAINING COMPLEX Lt Gen PJS Pannu, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of IDS visited CDM, Secunderabad on 27 May 19 & inaugurated state of the art Ashwamedha Training Complex constructed for Higher Defence Management Course. He also addressed future leaders of three Services including foreign officers attending HDMC on ‘Understanding Future Warfare’. INAUGURAL ADDRESS TO HDMC - 15 Lt Gen PC Thimmaya, PVSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, ARTRAC delivered inaugural address to officers of HDMC-15 comprising 160 Tri-Services officers & 12 officers from friendly foreign countries. 11 HANDING OVER OF BATON Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) & Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC handed the Chairman COSC baton to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VM, ADC on 31 May 2019 in presence of COAS, CISC, Vice Chiefs and other Tri Services senior officers. 12 DEFENCE LABORATORIES As part of understanding niche technologies in Cyber & Space being developed by Indian Defence Laboratories, Lt Gen PJS Pannu, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of IDS interacted with the Labs at Pune, Hyderabad, CDM & MILIT from 29 to 31 May 19. He stressed on the need to adapt and evolve technology & the need for indigenisation. INTERACTION WITH ARTRAC Directorate of Net Assessment under Doctrine Organisation Training (DOT) branch, HQ IDS interacted with HQ ARTRAC officers on 10 May 19 as part of an outreach programme and presented recent Net Assessment projects carried out by them. 13 DIPAC DG DIA, Deputy NSA and ACIDS (Tech Int) reviewed the progress of Space based Surveillance at DIPAC (Defence Image Processing & Analysis Centre). DSCC DSCC (Defence Satellite Control Centre), Bhopal celebrated their 13th Raising Day on 25 May 19 with various activities planned to commemorate the day. The evening function at Officers’ Mess was attended by GOC 21 Corps, ACIDS (Tech Int), along with other senior functionaries from Corps HQs and Sub Area HQs. 14 JUNE 2019 CISC VISITS WESTERN COMMAND Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, AVSM, VSM, CISC visited HQ Western Command, Kharga Corps & other units on 07 Jun 19. He also delivered a talk on 'Tri Services Synergy & Jointness' to the officers of Kharga Corps. PLATINUM JUBILEE COURSE AT DSSC The 75th Staff Course commenced at DSSC, Wellington with the opening address of the Commandant, Lt Gen YVK Mohan, AVSM, SM, VSM. 482 Student officers of the Tri-Services as well as 40 International Officers from 28 friendly foreign countries are attending this Platinum Jubilee course. 15 WORKSHOP ON EXPLOITATION OF TECHNOLOGY BY NON-STATE ACTORS & BUILDING CAPACITIES Directorate of Indian Defence University, HQ Integrated Defence Staff organised a workshop on ‘Exploitation of Technologies by Non-State Actors & Building Capacities of Own Forces to Counter the Same’ on 12 & 13 Jun 19 at Jodhpur Hostel, Delhi. Middle and senior level Service Officers and Officers from NIA, NTRO, IB, R&AW, NSG, Coast Guard and BSF attended the Workshop. CHIEF OF STAFF SOUTHERN COMMAND VISITS CDM Lt Gen DS Ahuja, AVSM, Chief of Staff Southern Command visited CDM, Secunderabad & interacted with Commandant & faculty members. He was briefed on training and administrative aspects & was shown state of the art training infrastructure created to impart training to the future leaders of the three services. 16 MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (MDP) ON NET ASSESSMENT AND BIG DATA & VISUAL ANALYTICS 22 Senior Tri-Services officers of the rank of Brig/ Col equivalent attended week long MDP on Net Assessment at CDM. Strategic Management Process to evolve National Security Strategy through the process of SWOT & Scenario Building was covered as part of the programme. 40 Tri- Services officers attended a week long MDP on Big Data & Visual Analytics conducted at CDM. Participants were given hands-on experience using Advance Excel & MS Power BI with aim to facilitate effective decision making using data analytic tools. 17 VISIT OF DCIDS (DOT) TO MILIT Vice Adm AB Singh, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief Integrated Defence Staff (DOT) visited MILIT, Pune on 27 Jun 19 and interacted with the Commandant, Directing Staff and Student Officers.
