Our admissions staff will inform you of any possible changes during the admissions process. Applying for Admission Prospective parents can register their children as a “Candidate for Admission” at any time by filling out the “Candidate Registration Form” on our website at (www.enka.k12.tr/istanbul/admissions/application-process/) then signing the form and faxing it along with a copy of the child’s ID card to the Admissions Office at 0 212 286 5937 or delivering it to us in person. Prospective parents can also email their application forms to our Admissions Coordinator, Hilal Melikoğlu, at [email protected] or to our Admissions Officer, Nazan Üçüncü, at [email protected]. Applications are placed on the relevant waitlist based on application date. Applicants may apply to more than one grade level such as 3 year old, Pre-K, Kinder, and Grade 1 at the same time. The system is based on first come, first served. Upon receipt of the application, a confirmation email is sent to the prospective parents by the Admissions Coordinator. WE WELCOME NEW FAMILIES... Frequently Asked Questions How and when can we apply for Pre-School? Since our school processes registrations based on the early application system, the earlier you apply, the higher the probability you will have of enrolling your child. You can apply to our Pre-School by filling out the candidate registration form with the photocopy of your child's identification card. At what other grades do you admit students? How and when can we apply? Aside from admissions in Pre-School, ENKA Schools admit new students from Grade 2 to Grade 10 through transfer exams if there are spaces. Transfer exams are held in April or May. Those who wish to apply for the exams need to fill out the application form on our website and send it to the admissions office together with the copy of the their identification. What curriculum is followed at ENKA Schools? We implement the Ministry of Education’s curriculum as well as the International Baccalaureate curriculum, consisting of the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and IB Diploma Program (IBDP). ENKA also provides Advanced Placement classes in the High School. Is ENKA Schools affiliated with any international organizations? If so, which ones? • Council of International Schools (CIS) re-accredited in 2018 • New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) re-accredited in 2018 • Fully authorized International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP, DP school re-authorized in 2018 • College Board Advanced Placement (AP) fully authorized school • College Board Advanced Placement (AP) examination center • College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) examination center • The Duke of Edinburgh International Award ENKA Schools is also the first-- and one of the only-- schools in Turkey which the International Baccalaureate Organization uses as a training center for teachers. Prospective students seeking admission to our school – even very successful athletes need to pass our transfer exam. Do ENKA Schools have a special quota for students coming from abroad? No, there is no quota for international students. Does ENKA Schools have a special quota or priority for special needs students or gied students? No, there is no quota or priority for special needs or gied students. What age groups do you have in Pre-School? Our Pre-School consists of classes for 3 year olds, Pre-K (4 year olds), and Kinder (5 year olds). How many students do you have in each classroom in Pre-School? 3 year old class: 16 students Pre-K and Kinder classes: 18 students How many students do you have in each class in ENKA’s Primary School? Each class has a maximum of 23 students. What are the class hours for ENKA Pre-School and Primary School? School hours: 08:15 – 15:30 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS... What are the branch classes in ENKA Pre-School? Pre-School has the following branch classes: music, library, physical education (PE), art, and swimming. For music, PE, and swimming, the specialist teacher is English speaking. Is the instruction in ENKA Pre-School in English only? All branch classes are taught in English. Pre-School uses a team-teacher system in which one Turkish teacher and one international teacher teach side by side all day long in English and Turkish. How much time do Pre-School students spend outdoors? We are fortunate to have a spacious, wooded campus, so we make good use of this feature, using every opportunity in every kind of weather to provide students with learning time in nature. What foreign languages are taught at ENKA Schools? English, German, French, and Spanish are taught. At what grade level do aer school activities start? Aer school activities start at Grade 1. Do your High School graduates only aend the overseas universities? Our graduates continue on to universities in Turkey and abroad, dependent entirely on the student's preference. Regardless of their choices, we prepare our students for a successful university career. In our school, we have two separate university counseling offices: one specifically for students targeting universities in Turkey, and one for students planning to study internationally. These offices are directed by the Dean of Students. How does ENKA High School support students who are preparing for Turkish universities? For students who will study at Turkish universities, we have an (optional) comprehensive supplemental academics program --takviye kurslar-- tailored to supporting students with the Turkish university entrance exam preparation. Students can choose electives in some subjects to support them for Turkish universities.
