Cambodia is an emerging destination for beach and island escapes. The short coastline is dotted with several small and untouched islands. The biggest and most popular beach destination is Sihanoukville. Several stretches of laid-back, white-sand beaches are within easy reach of the town.
Sihanoukville also acts as a gateway to a cluster of islands known as the Koh Rong Archipelago. The small and undisturbed islands are largely unpopulated and the few high- end resorts that occupy the islands promote a serene sense of privacy and isolation.
Other noteworthy island destinations include Kep Island in the south, close to the Vietnam border, and Koh Kong in the northern coast, close to the Thailand border. However, there is a lack of high-end resorts at these destinations.
