The market has stands that exhibit and sell products manufactured by the residents of the area. You will then have lunch at the agreed restaurant and will arrive in Ollantaytambo, a typical example of the urban planning of the Incas, whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Inca Pachacutec (1438-1471) conquered the town, destroyed it and built a new one, absorbing it as part of his empire. The Ollantaytambo Fortress is a huge archaeological complex which, although it bears the name of fortress, it was actually a tambo, a leisure city used to accommodate the delegations that traveled long distances. Without a doubt, it is one of the most monumental works of the Inca Empire. The archaeological remains of Moray consist of mysterious concentric circular terraces that for some scholars would be an agricultural research center. External platforms, more elevated, woud be at higher temperatures than the inmates and could simulate the conditions of the different ecological floors of the empire. On the other hand, Maras is surreal sight. It is an impressive complex of salt mining. These are large deposits of salt that were used to trade for other products with other regions of the empire. After the tour return to your hotel. Lunch at Parador de Moray. This is the ideal place to take a break in the Lunch at Parador de Moray. Finally, after a short trip, you will arrive in Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture which is believed to have served as a sanctuary and resort for Inca Pachacútec (1438-1471). It was a sort of guardhouse and the Sun rises through this gateway every day if it is contemplated from the most important buildings of the citadel. You can also climb the Wayna Picchu (subject to availability of space), the "Young Mountain", as opposed to Machu Picchu. It takes around an hour to reach the top, and its main attraction is the "Temple of the Moon", an underground building complex probably conceived for the entertainment of the nobles. Finally, you will visit the Inca Bridge, an incredible stone construction which served to enter and exit the citadel, and which shows a large void in the middle, over which the Incas put two wooden boards. Thus, the Incas were able to isolate the city by just removing those boards, protecting themselves. It is a huge fortress made of large stones which transportation is still a mystery. Return to the city to continue your tour along the San Blas neighborhood, originally inhabited by the Inca nobility who built impressive stone constructions within walking distance of the Plaza de Armas. Unmistakable Inca walls can still be seen at the base of many buildings. Today the neighborhood is a delightful cluster of cobblestone streets popular among artisans who sell their handcrafts on the street. Continue to the cathedral. This is the most impressive monument in the Plaza de Armas. Its construction began in 1560 and ended only in 1654. It took nearly a century to complete. For this purpose hundreds of stones were extracted and transported from the fortress of Sacsayhuaman under the command of the Ecclesiastical Council and the burden of thousands of Indians.
