The 2016 Journals Catalog provides valuable information about each of the APS journals, along with an overview of the various services and resources available to librarians, subscribers, and readers. “Self-induced mode mixing of ultraintense lasers in vacuum” [Ángel Paredes et al., Phys. Rev. A 90, 063803 (2014)] 2 APS Journals 2016 Journal Descriptions APS EDITORIAL OFFICE Daniel T. Kulp, Editorial Director Hernan D. Rozenfeld, Assistant Editorial Director SUGGESTIONS Look for this Editors’ Suggestions indication Included in the Physical Review journal collection, Editors’ Suggestions highlight select papers of particular interest, importance, or clarity. APS Editors choose these exceptional papers weekly to encourage the exploration of other areas of physics. Editors’ Suggestions can be found on the respective online journal page. KALEIDOSCOPE Look Kaleidoscope for this indication Many Physical Review articles contain images that are both scientifically important and visually appealing. A selection of these images appears in Kaleidoscope to promote interest in the aesthetics of physics. Images are selected solely for their artistic appeal. Images from recently published papers appear on our main page and in an online archive. Creative Commons Authors in most Physical Review journals may pay an article-processing charge whereby their accepted manuscripts are available barrier-free and open access on publication. These manuscripts are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License (CC-BY), the most permissive of the CC licenses, granting authors and others the right to copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work, provided that proper credit is given. This alternative is in addition to traditional subscription- funded publication; authors may choose one or the other for their accepted papers. More information about the APS article-processing charges can be found online at journals.aps.org/author-information. 4 APS Journals 2016 Physical Review Fluids journals.aps.org/prfluids Physical Review Fluids is APS’s newest online-only journal dedicated to publishing innovative research that will significantly advance the fundamental understanding of fluids. Physical Review Fluids expands the scope of the APS journals to include additional areas of fluids research, complements the existing Physical Review collection, and maintains the same quality and reputation that authors and subscribers expect from APS. Physical Review Fluids will focus on all aspects of the field of fluids with topics including, but not limited to: • Biological fluid dynamics • Compressible flows • Flow control • Geophysical, geological, and atmospheric flows • Interfacial flows • Laminar and viscous flows • Micro- and nanoscale flow phenomena • Multiphase and stratified flows • Non-Newtonian fluid flows • Turbulence and turbulent flows • Vortex dynamics and rotating fluids INTRODUCTORY OFFERS ● Free to 2016 APS-All package subscribers and active consortia members ● Extended trials available, contact [email protected] for more information APS Journals 2016 5 Physical Review Letters journals.aps.org/prl Physical Review Letters (PRL) is APS’s flagship journal and the most highly cited journal in physics. PRL publishes short reports of significant and notable results in the full arc of fundamental and interdisciplinary physics research. Like all APS journals, PRL is international in scope, with at least two thirds of authors, reviewers, and revenue based outside the U.S. A full list of topics covered in PRL is available in the Table of Contents online. PRL continues to reinforce its high standards by requiring referees, editors, and editorial board members to be more rigorous. “Observation of Parametric Instability in Advanced LIGO” [Matthew Evans et al., Phys.
