The Ex-Works, Chequered Flag, Mike Parkes, John Davy Trophy Winning 1961 Gemini Mk3A Formula Junior Chassis Number: FJ Mk3/2/61 • Campaigned by the works Ferrari driver for Le Mans, Mike Parkes, taking the John Davy Trophy for Formula Juniors. • One of two works Geminis run by the Chequered Flag in Formula Junior during 1961. • With a full and continuous life on the race circuit, MK3/2/61 has claimed many a title over the years including winning the UK Historic Formula Junior Championship outright as well as winning the Chichester Cup at the Goodwood Revival. A fantastic opportunity to join the ever thriving Historic Formula Junior grid with a significant works entry. • Accompanied by 2015 HTPs and a spares package which includes another gearbox, set of gears, bodywork sections, wheel, fitted tonneau and assorted running spares. Formula Junior is currently one of the most competitive, active and well attended areas of historic motorsport worldwide, and was originally the brainchild of well known Italian racer Count ‘Johnny’ Lurani. From 1958 to 1963 Formula Junior replaced the motorcycle engined 500cc F3 cars as the stepping stone into Formula 1. Designed as a class for essentially mini Grand Prix chassis running 1,000cc or 1,100cc production engines and gearbox; in its relatively short life time Formula Junior spanned a period that saw some of the most significant changes in motorsport design to this day and as such very quickly went from front to rear engine designs. Formula Junior was a truly international series with 100s of cars regularly competing across the globe. -

They were only ever on sale at the circuit, and were sold to raise funds for things going on in Silverstone Village. Being sold on the circuit gave them access to some very hard to find signatures, as you can see from this initial selection. Wat dat Vbetreft kun je in Frankrijk je hart ophalen; geen land ter wereld waar op zó veel locaties een Grand Prix is ver- reden. Wie in de archieven duikt, telt er liefst zestien. In de beginjaren was het een kwestie van wegen afsluiten, strobalen neerleggen, draden spannen voor het publiek en voilà, het feest kon beginnen. Daar waar de racerij echter vaker terugkeerde, werden in de loop der tijd de nodige voorzieningen gebouwd. Zo ontstonden tal van semi-permanente omlopen, die voor een groot deel uit openbare wegen bestonden maar wel vaste pitgebouwen en tribunes hadden. Op Reims na is het gros van deze Verloren circuits; wie ook maar monumenten helaas gesloopt. Dat neemt niet weg dat een beetje autosporthistorisch wie goed zoekt, zeker de nodige restanten zal vinden. -

Winning world championships with both bikes and cars is a feat unmatched by any other racer. Inspired by JOHN SURTEES‘ exceptional motorsport career and life, watch manufacture SCALFARO have created the JOHN SURTEES EDITION of mechanical Swiss watches. This extraordinary edition was designed in close collaboration with JOHN SURTEES who supplied genuine historic parts from his 1960 MV Agusta 500ccm championship bike as well as his 1964 Ferrari 158 championship F1 car. 1951 JAGUAR XK120 PERIOD COMPETITION ROADSTER D E T A I L S Year: 1951 Body Style: Roadster Conguration: RHD Engine: 3400 cc Price: SOLD D E S C R I P T I O N Jaguar XK120 Competition Roadster. LRW747 is an early steel bodied car originally owned by legendary Ferrari importer and race manager Col Ronnie Hoare. Constructed in August of 1951 this Jaguar was not despatched until November of that year. From records in the history le it seems that the car was extensively tested and prepared by Bob Berry, who had recently joined Jaguar at this time, and this may explain the delay between construction and delivery to Col Hoare. The car moved with Lt Col Hoare to West Germany, who was a commanding ofcer in the British Army, and remained there for the three years of his posting. Upon his return to England Ronnie Hoare retired from the Army in 1955 with the rank of full Colonel and set up a Ford dealership. Hoare had known Enzo Ferrari for a number of years and following Mike Hawthorn’s tragic death in 1959, Col Hoare took over as the principal importer of Ferrari’s, founding his Egham based Maranello Concessionaires. Not content to restrict himself to the sales and servicing business, Col Hoare successfully entered the motor racing scene, providing cars for the likes of Graham Hill, Innes Ireland, Mike Parkes, and John Surtees among others in a variety of national and international events. Following Col Hoare’s period of the ownership LRW747 passed through a few owners before being acquired by Anthony Hutton in the late 1960s by which time the car had been repainted Black. -
