Dan Gurney in front of Graham Hill, and John Surtees in 1966 at Spa Francorchamps, the Belgium Grand Prix. He won this Grand Prix after an exciting race with Jim Clark as his major competitor and once again as the man of the field. But Gurneys fabulous but heavy Eagle Weslake V12 won this Belgium GP. John Surtees keeps his RA300 in the lead at the 1967 - just inches ahead of the Brabham- of . To win Monza you had to have the chance and knowledge to win a slipstream duel. Like Jackie Stewart two years later or in 1971. Clark had lead the Monza GP 1967 two times, but a tyre puncture near the half and a faulty fuel pump did the rest to his second lead after having faught back through the field. So it was Surtees and Brabham fighting for the victory - and John Surtees just went over the finish line 0,2 secs ahead of the Australian.

This is one of my largest original art works. It measures 70 x 100 cm, so about 28 x 40 inches.

I just like this Ferrari 312 very much. Still in the era of F1 without wings, the 1966 generation is one of my favourites.

Phil Hill, displayed here ahead of Gurney in the Ferrari 156, later will finish 2nd. Bruce McLaren on his Cooper, displa- yed in front here, will be the winner of the most important race in the season It still was the season opener in 1962.

It was the only season for the beautiful . Joakim Bonnier still drove the with his swedish colours in that race, but ma- naged to get on a fifth place after a slow start from nearly the back of the field. Dan Gurney unfortunately abandonned before the end of the race. The scene shows the three cars in the long and fast Massenet curve approaching to Casino corner, with the Casino building backside already in sight. This is a tricky spot - after the steep full flat run up to the Casino hill, the cars have to slowdown with low grip into this left hand corner. The shops in Massenet Corner under the balcony are there until today.

I remember the bad accident of at Nurburgring quite well. It was 1976 and I was 11 years old. The fotos of the burning Ferrari wreck and saving Laudas life went up and down our TV screens. He had lead the F1 championship that year, always in a close fight with on the McLaren. Lauda came back as early as possible, only some weeks after the accident - mainly to protect his driver seat against the Ferrari diplomacy, which did not only work against people like Surtees. So against all odds it came to an unfor- gettable showdown at the last GP race of the 1976 season at Fuji, when Hunt had the chance to get world champion by achieving 4 points more than Lauda, at a monsoon wet japanese GP track. But as if this was not enough of excitement, the rain did even got heavier. When the #61 Jackie Stewart / BRDC Building / Silverstone race finally was started, Lauda drove some laps, soon failed to stay near his english rival and - On canvas: 160 x 120 cm, 130 x 100 cm, 100 x 70 cm decided to quit. One of these highlights took place at Hockenheim, just around the corner from where I live. This first Grand Prix for Formula One Cars came and more than 150.000 spectators followed. It was a great atmosphere. The summer sun slowly heated up the wood area down the Hardtbachdamm and at the Ostkurve, a real Pa- rabolica. In the early afternoon the Motodrom was filled with people, heat, dust and sound. Like Monza, Hockenheim was a real slipstream race. And so it came. Jacky Ickx and local hero Jochen Rindt fought a fantastic race long battle. With competitors like Siffert, Regazzoni and Amon the group of five contenders delivered a legendary show. Siffert dropped out soon unfortunately. Later Regazzoni and Amon had to park their cars with technical problems. Only two laps before the cheque- red flag Rindt could overtake Ickx - and the Belgian lost by only 0.7 sec distance at the finish line. What a great race for a fantastic new F1 race track.

The painting shows the view along the pit lane straight to Süd- kurve of the legendary Motodrom of Hockenheim. The original is in a size of 50 x 64 cm. Framed it will measure 70 x 84 cm.
