Building, East Fare Structure Central Railway With effect from 1st April, 2012, the passenger fares of First class, AC 2-Tier and First AC/Executive Classes were increased by 10, 15 and 30 paise per kilometer, respectively. AC First Class 10 Paise Ticketless Travel During 2012-13, 17.87 lakh checks were conducted against ticketless/irregular travel (including carriage of unbooked luggage). About 199.80 lakh cases were detected and `622.47 crore were realised on this account. Punctuality The punctuality of Mail/Express trains (arriving at destinations on right time) during the year 2012-13 was 79% as per Integrated Coaching Management System (ICMS). This computer based on-line system was adopted by Railway Board from January, 2009 for analyzing the Punctuality Performance. Unit Revenue The average earning per passenger kilometre was 28.52 paise in 2012-13 as against 27 paise in 2011-12. IRCTC would continue to be a service provider to the IR and is responsible for managing the premium and high end outlets like Food Plazas, Food Courts and Fast Food Units; and institutional catering outside the Railways. During 2012-13, Catering facilities were provided through: Static Catering units - 10,149 Pantry Cars/Mini pantries - 306 pairs of trains Tourist Facilitation Centre at Mysore Station Train side vending - 150 trains (which was awarded Tourist Friendly Railway Departmental catering units - 352 Station Award of Union Ministry of Tourism in March, 2013) Catering units under IRCTC - 215 Private/Licensee operated units Under Zonal Railways - 9,903 Private/Licensee under IRCTC - 135 Food Plazas/Fast Food Units/Food Courts - 117 Automatic Vending Machines - 620 Jan Ahaar Units ( low cost/economy) - 51 The sales turnover of departmental catering units during the year 2012-13 rose to `271.83 crore from `250.11 crore in the previous year and licence fee realized from the catering/ Water cooler at a station, South Eastern vending contractors was `229.77 crore in 2012-13 against Railway `220.54 crore in 2011-12. 22 INDIAN RAILWAYS ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS 2012-13 Rail Tourism Ministry of Railways has taken several important initiatives to promote tourism in the country. These include introduction of new tourist train services on popular tourist circuits in different regions of the country to offer one week’s fully packaged rail travel itinerary inclusive of travel, accommodation, on board catering, on-board and conducted sightseeing tours at the destinations. After gauge conversion, a new BG rake was introduced from 1996. This luxury tourist train is fully vestibuled, centrally air-conditioned and completely self-sufficient and comprises 14 saloons, 2 dining cars, a Spa A veiw of Deccan Odyssey Peshwa II car and a lounge car, comprising of 22 coaches. Saloons: The Restaurant saloons are named after the former Rajput States and evoke visions of the royal kingdoms. Each saloon has 4 coupes, done in colours characteristic of that State and highlighted by the emblem of the erstwhile States. Each compartment has an attached bath with running hot/cold water and showers, built- in wardrobes, overhead and night lamps, piped music, reading light and wall-to-wall carpeting, etc. At the end of each coach there is a separate lounge where passengers can relax when they wish to move out of their bedrooms. An interior veiw of Palace on Wheels Restaurant Dining Cars: The Maharaja and Maharani Restaurants offer seating arranged in groups of two and four near the window. Chefs in the attached pantry prepare gourmet continental and Indian specialties with emphasis on the cuisine of Rajasthan.
