Please send an email to [email protected] with your school name and the gender(s) that you coach at least two weeks prior to the meet to ensure that your team is in the system and they have your correct email address on file. They will send complete instructions to all coaches approximately two weeks before the meet. Varsity - 7 per team with first 5 scoring. JV - Unlimited entries with first 5 scoring. New for 2019 - automatic splits at the 1 and 2 miles for JV and Varsity races. Team Camps: Camps should be located on the west side of the parking lot, south of the club house. Keep tents off of the fairways and away from the greens. Parking: Spectator parking will be available in the golf course parking lot, along 102nd street, and on Nesbitt Avenue. DO NOT park in Berkshire Townhomes. Cars parked in this lot will be subject to ticket/towing. Buses: Will NOT be allowed inside the parking lot. Please drop your athletes and equipment at the front gate. Space for team camps is adjacent to this spot. Jefferson High School is on the corner of France and 102nd street and will be available for bus parking. Pets: The golf course does not allow pets on the course. Spectators with pets will be asked to leave immediately. Awards: Plaques to the first overall in Varsity and JV divisions, medals for 2-10. Middle school awards will be handed out at the finish. Plaques will be awarded for team champions in the varsity races. Awards for the high school races will follow the last race. Course Varsity and Junior Varsity will do two loops. The “C” race will be one loop.     “I see a lot of guys specialize in only one sport in high school, like they only play basketball or baseball or football. In high school, I did everything. I played baseball and basketball and ran track. I even ran cross country and played soccer. I did everything. I think that trying everything gives you a better perspective on all the different sports.” - Larry Fitzgerald (Holy Angels, University of Pittsburg, Arizona Cardinals) Interview for Stack Magazine in 2007 Why do we encourage multisport athletes at Burnsville High School? 1. You become a better athlete playing multiple sports. An athlete who participates many different sports gains the perspectives and values unique to each (Matheson, 1990). The exposure to different coaches with different philosophies, strategies, and personalities can provide important benefits for the development of a well-rounded athlete (Hill, & Hansen, 1988). 2. Multisport athletes get better grades and have a better high school experience. Multisport athletes tend to get better grades, and are often the most active and productive students in the school (Cardone, 1994). 3. Multisport athletes are less likely to use alcohol and drugs. After-school practices leave student-athletes with less time for drug use and experimentation (Naylor, Gardner & Zaichkowsky, 2001). The Minnesota Student Survey (2010) says participating in two or more sports greatly reduces chemical use compared to those not in a sport (7% vs. 19% cigarette use, 6% vs. 15% marijuana use, 45% vs. 48% alcohol use). 4. There is less risk of injury and burnout playing multiple sports. Research also suggests athletes should have at least 2 to 3 months off per year from their particular sport during which they can let injuries heal, refresh the mind, and work on strength and conditioning in hopes of reducing injury risk (Pediatrics, 2007).

    June 2010 WELCOME PLAYERS, COACHES, FAMILIES, AND FASTPITCH FANS, Thank you for being an enthusiastic and critical component of this year’s All-Star se- ries. Without all of you, this event could not happen. Today, you will see 72 outstanding players from across the state of Minnesota. These players represent the best of the class of 2010 and more than 15,000 girls who play Fastpitch softball. Many of these players have earned All-Conference, All- Section, All-State, and All-State Academic awards. Without the involvement of the Minnesota Coaches Association and its member coaches, these awards and this series of games would not be possible. We are very excited to have this year’s tournament at the great Caswell Park Complex. This is a premier fastpitch location and look forward to many years of the showcase at this location. Moreover, this premier and unique event could not happen without a lot of very hard work. First, the players have dedicated themselves to hours of practice and improvement opportunities. They have also played in hundreds of ASA/USA-MSF sponsored summer league games and tournaments. Second, parents and fans have braved all kinds of weather, long road trips and many meals in the car to see their favorite Fastpitch softball players work toward their very ambitious goals. Finally, we need to give special recognition and thanks to the MSF and MFCA for their countless hours of preparation to see that this event is yet another fantastic memory for all involved. Enjoy the games. Embrace the spirit of competition.
