2020-11-13 13:40 CET Lil Nas X är tillbaka och skapar julstämning med videon till nya singeln “HOLIDAY” Idag släpper Grammyvinnaren Lil Nas X nya singeln “HOLIDAY” med en spektakulär musikvideo som fick stor uppmärksamhet redan tidigare i veckan när trailern gick live och gästades av ingen mindre än skådespelaren Michael J Fox. Lil Nas X har regisserat den filmiska musikvideon tillsammans med regissören Gibson Hazard och tar sig an fyra olika roller när han sätter sikte på julafton 2220. Tittaren tas med på en resa genom ett futuristiskt nordpolen med robotrenar som leder vägen, allt medan Lil Nas X gestaltas i rollerna som Nasarati X, Tolaÿ, Sonic ochSanta Nas X. Se videon här. Lil Nas X som ligger bakom megahiten “Old Town Road” gör ett samarbete med Roblox där han lördag den 14 November kommer premiärspela “HOLIDAY” och flera av sina stora hits i plattformen. Den digitala konserten kommer innehålla ny teknologi i Roblox och förväntas bli något utöver det vanliga. Konserten visas i tre olika tidszoner och här i Sverige ses den kl 18.00 svensk tid, söndag den 15 november. Y’ALL CALL IT TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION, WE CALL IT #FORTHECULTURE: THE USE OF AMPLIFICATION RHETORICS IN BLACK COMMUNITIES AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION STUDIES by Temptaous T. Eble Major Department: Department of English This project seeks to define and identify the use of Amplification Rhetorics (AR) in the social movement organization TRAP Karaoke and at three Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In highlighting the AR practices in Black communities. This project will provide insight into what these practices and spaces have to offer to the field of Technical and Professional Communication (TPC). AR is a theoretical framework that details the discursive and communicative practices, both written/textual and embodied/performative performed/used by individuals that self-identify as Black and centers the lived experiences and epistemologies of Black people and other historically marginalized groups. AR are #ForTheCulture practices that provoke change within the academy, regardless the field, however for this project I focus on the field of TPC. The phrase “For the Culture,” is used to describe or allude to an action that can benefit those individually or within a community much like TPC artifacts. This project identifies rhetorical practices located in Black spaces and communities that can be identified as TPC through the reclamation of agency, the sharing of narratives, and the inclusion of Black epistemologies. It illustrates just what it means to pass the mic and remind folks that we not ‘bout to act like there aren’t people of color at the TPC table. -

CONFESSIONS OF A BLACK FEMALE RAPPER: AN AUTOETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY ON NAVIGATING SELFHOOD AND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY by CHINWE MAPONYA-COOK Under the DireCtion of Jonathan Gayles, PhD ABSTRACT The following research explores the ways in whiCh a BlaCk female rapper navigates her selfhood and traditional expeCtations of the musiC industry. By examining four overarching themes in the literature review - Hip-Hop, raCe, gender and agency - the author used observations of prominent BlaCk female rappers spanning over five deCades, as well as personal experiences, to detail an autoethnographiC aCCount of self-development alongside pursuing a musiC career. MethodologiCally, the author wrote journal entries to detail her experiences, as well as wrote and performed an aCCompanying original mixtape entitled The Thesis (available on all streaming platforms), as a creative addition to the research. -
