REDHOUSE is an arts and creative industries centre situated in the Old Town Hall — a magnificent Grade II* listed building — in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil. REDHOUSE opened to the public on St. David’s Day 2014, following an extensive £8M capital redevelopment programme supported by the Welsh Government, European Regional Development Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council in association with Miller Argent Emerging in an environment which has suffered years of economic decline, REDHOUSE will become a catalyst for cultural regeneration: awakening the spirit of creative enterprise that was once a hallmark of a venerable town at the centre of the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain. REDHOUSE is open to the public Monday to Saturday 8:30am – 5:30pm, excluding Bank Holidays. There is no charge for visiting the building to look around. PURPOSE OF REPORT 1.1 To advise Cabinet as Trustees of the Blackwood Miners’ Institute of the operational activities and financial position of Blackwood Miners’ Institute for the financial year ending 31st March 2019. 2. SUMMARY 2.1 Blackwood Miners’ Institute was conveyed as a charitable trust to Islwyn Borough Council, (and subsequently to Caerphilly County Borough Council), and was registered as a charity on 13th November 1990. 2.2 The local authority, acting as sole corporate trustee has a legal duty to operate the charity in accordance with the governing document, and has a legal obligation to account for the charity’s finances in accordance with the Charity Act 2011. 2.3 A report to Cabinet as Trustees of Blackwood Miners’ Institute was considered on the 27th July 2016 advising Members of the statutory requirements relating to the charitable status of Blackwood Miners’ Institute, including a set of recommendations to ensure compliance with charity law in relation to the submission of annual reports and financial statements, the ongoing management of the Blackwood Miners’ Institute and the Council’s and Cabinet’s responsibilities as Trustees. 2.4 The annual report and audited statement of accounts for 2018/2019 are included as an appendix to this report. 2.5 Cabinet as Trustees of Blackwood Miners’ Institute are required to consider the accounts prior to the annual report and accounts being submitted to the Charity Commission as part of the annual return, in compliance with the requirements of the Charity Act 2011.

    British Wrestling Association INTRODUCTION Annual Report A message from the Chair The first issue I wish to address is the 2012 London Olympics. You will all be aware that as host nation to the Olympic Games, the British Wrestling Association (BWA) was awarded 3 host nation places by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the condition if that we automatically qualified then the three host nation places would be reduced accordingly. It was always going to be a step too far by London 2012 to expect any of our male athletes to qualify automatically as the gap between their international experience and accomplishments and automatic qualification could not be bridged in the time available. The position relative to a small number of our female athletes was different but hampered by issues of gaining British citizenship. The British Olympic Association (BOA) are invested with the authority to endorse or deny the BWA their host nation places and accordingly an agreement was drawn up between the BOA and the BWA which set the guidelines for acceptance of the host nation places. The conditions were tough but, in my view, achievable. The BOA's stance was always that any athlete put forward should be capable of a 'credible performance.' Unfortunately, our male athletes missed compliance with the Olga Butkevych signs into Team GB wall of fame agreement, in some cases by the narrowest of margins. Nevertheless, all the athletes put forward were capable of giving a 2011-12 credible performance at the Games.     Prologue The New London Theatre, Wednesday 7 March 1979 HE SHOW began with serious trumpeting. A fanfare of some importance and the audience were applauding. It felt Tlike history was being made, although some of the people there that night, figures dotted throughout the whole of Shirley Crabtree’s life, would later think differently. Once the limelight faded there would be a divided opinion on the Crabtree clan and their influence on professional wrestling, and we shall come to these matters in due course. For now, we are trying to conjure up a scene, resurrect a bit of telly history so to speak, so we’re looking down at the TV cameras, which are themselves trained on the mock-auditorium set up at the front. There is empty raised seating either side of the doors centre-stage, and a backdrop of red, brown, and cream. Every set of eyes is focused on the doors and over all of this, the shows superimposed titles come and go. Although the audience were familiar with people like Kent Walton and Dickie Davies on World of Sport on Saturday afternoons, there was a certain amount of excitement on their faces as they waited for a different kind of show to begin. This was a live recording and their unblinking eyes shining back through the fag smoke could mean only a couple of things. They were either totally transfixed as they clapped like brainwashed seals, or 11 Who’s The Daddy? they’d had a skinful in the Prince of Wales on Drury Lane before the show.

The first, built In 1697, was destroyed by fire, and the second, built in 1704, was torn down to make room, for the present structure. INTRODUCTION In compiling information for the publication of this issue of the Maryland Manual, it has been my intention to provide a brief, but accurate, reference book of important items and information con- cerning our State departments. We have endeavored in the limited space allotted, to give you, at a glance, valuable data concerning the State of Maryland, including its Charter and Constitution, the names of all State and County officials, and members and functions of the various commissions, boards, committees and other governmental agencies created by the last Legislature, and those existing prior thereto. We have also endeavored to furnish financial, educational, political and historical data of general interest, not only to the citizenry, but to State officials.
