It is possible that she later married Thomas Lewis. (Her brother, Morris ap Robert Wynne had married Marsli, daughter of Cadwalader [of Wenallt] ap Maredudd ap Evan of Gwydir) 2. 1687 Gaynor verch Thomas Lewis’ Will: Her wish was that her remains were to lie in the Church at Beddgelert and legacy distributed to the following: her daughter Ellin John to have cow and calf and the debt, expected from her husba nd, to be deleted, also the children of her daughter Ellin John are to share and take possession of all the sheep at Hafod y llan; her daughter Alice John to have the horses and one heifer; three year -old heifer to her grandson John Ellis; her grand daught er Alice Ellis to have cow in calf. The rest of her possessions to go to her grand daughter Gaynor Ellis, her sole executor, but if Gaynor Ellis dies childless, her share is to be divided between the children of her daughter, Ellin John. She was persuading Edward ap Evan and Griffith Williams to be the guardians of Gaynor Ellis during her childhood and be responsible for paying her debts. The will was signed on 11 December 1687 with Rowland Williams, Griffith Williams and Evan Williams, Clerk, as witnesses, and it was administered to Edward ap Evan, grandfather of Gaynor Ellis, the Executor, in the presence of Richard Parry, John …, Edward ap Evan, William Williams and Owen Edwards on 7 February 1688. Her property, including animals mainly, was worth £45 -0-0, valued by Rowland Williams, William Richard, Owen Robert and Pierce Owen. Much correspondence about guardianship was kept. Before 14 March 1703 the late Thomas Williams had owned Berthlwyd, and John Rowlands, Nant, was able to dispose of the yearly ren t charge of 6s 8d in his 1703 will. Editorial UR Autumnal Meeting will be held at Manchester on Wednesday, 16th October, at 4 p.m., in the Hall attached to Cavendish Church. Papers are expected from Professor OG. Lyon Turner, M.A., on '' Congregationalism and the Confessors of 1662" ; and from Mr. A. Peel, M.A., B.Litt., on some fruits of his researches into Elizabethan Puritanism. Our Annual Meeting was held on 8th May ; the attendance was meagre. The officers were unanimously reappointed, with thanks for past services; and the Rev. W. Pierce was associated with the secretariat, The rest of the proceedings were conversational, dealing with our future work and the best means of increasing our membership. We note with regret the decease of two of our oldest members; Rev. H. Shaw, of Urmston, who in 1901 read an instructive paper on the rise and growth of Congregationalism in Manchester ; and Mr. John Scamell, of Westbury, from whom we have more than once received interesting communications. The 250th Anniversary of the Act of Uniformity has been duly recognized by most ofthe churches which originated in the labours of the ejected ministers, and united commemorations are in pro spect. But it must have been felt by all who are old enough to remember the celebration of fifty years ago, that there has been no such enthusiasm as marked the Bicentenary in 1862. This, however, can excite no surprise. The Bicentenary followed close on a great religious revival ; and it was very properly used for the promotion of schemes of Church extension, which were then greatly needed. A few figures will shew how fruitful was the impulse thus generated.

JL 222/064 THE MONTGOMERYSHIRE PEDIGREES, THE "VISITATIONS OF WALES", by LEWIS DWNN. The project, commenced in 1884, for printing these pedigrees for the use of the Members of the Powys-land Club is now carried out. The high authority of Lewis Dwnn's Visitations, and the extreme rarity and costliness of the work in which they were first printed by the Welsh Manuscript Society in 1846, rendered it desirable that the Montgomeryshire portion of such Visitations should be placed in the hands of the Members. This has been done, with- out extra cost, as part of the publications of the Club. One hundred extra copies have been printed before the type was distributed, which are intended to be offered to Members of the Club in the first instance. Any not taken by them will be offered for sale to the public. INTRODUCTION. To aid the memory in cherishing and perpetuating the record of what is honourable and of good report in families, has been pro- nounced "the science of fools with long memories." If wisdom were always associated with a short or tarnished one, we might accept such a dictum; but, as this is not so, we may safely refer else- where for a more truthful definition of so well-abused and mis- represented a study as genealogy.

THE DAVID FAMILY OF FAIRWATER, LLANDAFF DDAV The David family and Fairwater The ‘first Evan David of Fairwater’, as he was known, was the second son of Evan and Margaret David of Coity. There are no records in this collection of the first Evan David.
