Terms and conditions of sporting equipment loan

Based on Regulation 31 §6 section 2 clause 5 “Statute of Tallinn Central Library” passed by Tallinn City Council on Oct. 18, 2007.

1. General provisions 1.1 Tallinn Central Library (hereafter library) lends sporting equipment to the readers of the library. 1.2 Borrowing sporting equipment is free of charge. 1.3 Sporting equipment is available in seven branch libraries: in North Tallinn district, Kännukuke in Mustamäe, Nurmenuku in , Nõmme in Nõmme region, Paepealse in Lasnamäe district, in North Tallinn and in Pirita region. 1.4 The library website provides the list of loan items and the location of branch libraries.

2. Homelending of sporting equipment 2.1 A reader can only borrow one sports item at a time. The lender must not have any previous obligations towards the library. A pulse monitor watch can be borrowed as an additional item. A pedometer and a pulse monitor watch are available for loan as additional items for walking poles. 2.1.1 A pedometer and a pulse monitor watch can be signed out separately from other sport items.

2.2 From Oct. 1 to March 31 the borrowing period will be limited to 21 days without a possibility to renew the loan. If the demand for sporting equipment increases, the loan period can be reduced without renewing possibility.

2.3 From April 1 to Sept. 30 the borrowing period will be limited to 7 days without a possibility to renew the loan. If the demand for sporting equipment increases, the loan period can be reduced without renewing possibility.

2.4 It is possible to reserve sporting equipment in advance in case the item is available in the library, i.e. the item is not lent out. You have to collect the item the same day you reserved it.

2.5 The sporting equipment must be returned by the due date to the branch from which it was borrowed. Deptors will be stopped from borrowing new sport items.

2.6 If sporting equipment is not returned by the due date, an overdue notice will be sent within a period of two months via mail or e-mail, or the reader is informed over the phone. The notice includes an overdue date and a new due date. The library may send more than one overdue notice depending on the demand of the sports item. The library may send an overdue notice to a parent of a person under the age of 18, in case the necessary data has been provided.

2.7 The library offers courtesy alerts to cardholders who have provided a valid e-mail address on their patron record.

3. Equipment for use in the library only

3.1 Ball pumps are meant for in-library use only. 3.2 Novuss (koroona) can be played in the library only. Reservation is required.

4. Patron`s responsibility 4.1 The reader bears full and complete liability for the sporting equipment he/she has loaned. 4.2 Upon failure to return or upon damaging a sports item, the reader is required to replace the item (with a similar one, or as an exception, with an another sports item equivalent to the borrowed one ) or pay the full replacement cost of the item:

4.3 Damage caused by a person under 18 years of age, is compensated by the parents of the minor.

The directive nr 1-2/10 of Feb. 21, 2014 “ Terms and conditions of sporting equipment loan” is annulled.
