PODLECH Abstract: D. PODLECH, Revision der altweltlichen annuellen Arten der Gattung Astragalus L. (Legumi- nosae). - Sendtnera 2: 39-170. 1994. - ISSN 0944-0178. The present study deals with a systematic revision of the annual species of Astragalus in the Old World. The hitherto described 32 sections are reduced to 14 with partly other delimitation. These HTQ Ankylotus (4 species), Annulares (12 species), Biserrula (1 species), Bucerates (7 species), Cyamodes (1 species), Dipelta (1 species). Epiglottis (1 species), Heterodontus (4 species), Hispiduli (8 species), Oxyglottis (6 species), Pentaglottis (1 species), Thlaspidium (1 species). The sections Platyglottis (9 species) and Sesamei (22 species), which were revised short times ago are not treated again. The 78 species in total are all nearly related and form the subgenus Trimeniaeus Bunge. The annual Astragalus vogelii (sect. Herpocaulos) which was treated by PODLECH 1984 is excluded from the subgen. Trimeniaeus because it is a clear derivative of perennial groups of subgen. Cercidothrix. The annual A. ophiocarpus Bunge and A. mirus Sirj. & Rech.f are treated as genera of its own out of which the latter is decribed as a new genus Barnebyella Podlech. Während bei den perennen altweltlichen (jrruppen der Gattung Astragalus dem Haartyp - ob basifx oder medifix - eine entscheidende systematische Bedeutung zugemessen wird, verwischt sich dieser Unterschied bei einer Reihe der einjährigen Arten. Fast alle altweltlichen annuellen Ästragali sind trotz stark verschiedener Indumentausbildung nahe miteinander verwandt und stellen nach unseren Vorstellungen eine sehr alte Gruppe dar, die sich in den Trockengebieten der altweltlichen Nordhemisphäre entfaltet hat (PODLECH 1991). Neben der Mehrzahl der rein basifix behaarten Sektionen und einer rein medifix behaarten Sektion (§ Epiglottis) finden sich Sektionen mit basifix behaarten und medifix behaarten Arten (§ Bucerates) oder solche, deren Arten in verschiedener Weise beide Haartypen gemischt aufweisen (§ Hispiduli, § Annulares: A. annularis). Auf annulle altweltliche ^5^raga/w5-Arten wurden bisher insgesamt 32 Sektionen begründet. Sie werden hier auf Grund anderer Gewichtung von Fruchtform, Blütenbau, Stellung der Ne- benblätter und Indument auf 14 sehr verschieden umfangreiche Sektionen verteilt, die wir als insgesamt nahe verwandt ansehen und deren teilweise recht aberrant wirkenden Vertreter sich durch einfache Evolutionsvorgänge voneinander ableiten lassen. Allen Cjrnjppen gemeinsam ist die Verbreitung in Trocken-, ja teilweise in Halbwüsten- und Wüstengebieten. Nur A. contortuplicatus L. der Sektion Heterodontus kommt an ± salzigen Flußufem auch teilweise gemäßigter Zonen vor und hat wohl wegen seiner Verbreitung durch Wasservögel ein teilweise diskontinuierliches und azonales Areal. Die Arten sind durch meist sehr kleine Blüten, stets kahle Petalen sowie durch fakultative bis wohl meist obligate © Biodiversity Heritage Library, http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/; www.biologiezentrum.at 40 Autogamie ausgezeichnet. Dadurch werden häufig bestimmte mutativ entstandene Merkmale in einzelnen Populationen fixiert, so die Kalhheit der Früchte (bei einer Reihe von Arten) oder gänzliche Kahlheit der Pflanze, eine selten auftretende Mutation, die jedoch auch bei perennen Arten gelegentlich vorkommt (z.B. bei A. brachystachys DC, siehe Podlech 1988). Auch die Fruchtform zeigt aus diesem Grrund bei einigen Arten eine bemerkenswerte Variabilität, die jedoch nur populationsweise schwankt, keinem Verbreitungsmuster unterliegt und die deshalb nicht zur Unterscheidung von Sippen herangezogen werden kann. Hierzu sind bei A. hamosus L. von G. Rechtsteiner in einer unveröffentlichten Diplomarbeit der Universität München umfangreiche Populationsstudien in Nordafiika und statistische Auswertungen von Herbar- material durchgeführt worden. Schwierig bleibt die taxonomische Bewertung der armuellen altweltlichen Arten. Während die neuweltlichen annuellen Astragali polyphyletisch aus verschiedenen perennen Gruppen ableitbar sind (Barneby 1964), ist dies mit einer weiter unten zu besprechenden Ausnahme bei den altweltlichen Sippen nicht möglich. Die Einjährigkeit ist hier kein später erworbenes Merk- mal, sondern gehört zur primären Ausstattung der hier behandelten Arten. Vielmehr sind die wenigen perennen Sippen der vorwiegend annuellen Section Platyglottis (PODLECH 1990) ein- deutig von annuellen Sippen ableitbar. Auch bei A. hamosus und A. solandri treten sehr selten kurzlebig perenne Pflanzen auf Bis zur Klärung der tatsächlichen Beziehungen aller Sektionen der Riesengattung Astragalus etwa durch umfangreiche DNA-Sequenzierungen, chemo- taxonomische und andere Untersuchungen kann man mit BUNGE (1868/69) an der Einordnung in eine eigene Untergattung festhalten. Damit würde die Einteilung der altwehlichen Astragali in zwei Untergattungen (PODLECH 1982) durch Hinzufugen einer dritten Untergattung modifiziert. Astragalus L. subgen. Trimeniaeus Bunge, Mem. Acad. Imp. Sei. St. Petersbourg 11 (16): 6. 1868. Lectotypus: ^. oxyglottis MBieb. (PODLECH 1982). = Astragalus subser. Epiglottis Boiss., Fl. Or. 2: 205. 1872. Typus: A. epiglottis h. Zu dieser Untergattung kann man zur Zeit folgende Sektionen zählen: Ankylotus Bunge, Annulares DC, Biserrula (L.) Barneby, Bucerates DC, Cyamodes Bunge, Dipelta Bunge, Epiglottis Bunge, Heterodontus Bunge, Hispiduli Podlech, Oxyglottis Bunge, Pentaglottis Bunge, Platyglottis Bunge, Sesamei DC, Thlaspidium Lipsky. Die medifix behaarte Sektion Herpocaulos Bunge, die von PODLECH (1984) bearbeitet wur- de, ist mit den oben genannten Sektionen in keiner Weise verwandt. Die Gründe hierfür sind in der genannten Arbeit dargelegt. Es handeh sich um den einzigen nachweisbaren Fall einer Ab- leitung aus perennen basalen Sektionen {Qnobrychoidei, Pedinä) der Untergattung Cercido- thrix Bunge. Die einzige Art A. vogelii (Webb) Bomm. wird im Rahmen dieser Arbeit nicht behandelt. Zwei weitere Sektionen, die erst kürzlich einer umfassenden Revision unterzogen worden sind, nämlich Platyglottis Bunge (PODLECH 1990) und Sesamei DC (GAZER 1993) werden hier ebenfalls nicht mehr behandelt. Die beiden Sektionen Ophiocarpus Bunge und Mirae Sirj. & Rech.f sind zwar unter Astra- galus beschrieben, stellen jedoch eigene Gattungen dar, deren Verwandtschaft mit Astragalus in keiner Weise gesichert ist. Sie werden im Anhang an diese Arbeit behandelt. Bei PODLECH (1991) wurde auf Grund einer oberflächlichen Ähnlichkeit noch eine Arten- gruppe in die annuellen Astragali einbezogen, deren Vertreter jedoch perennen Wuchs aufweisen und für die eine eigene Sektion Saxifractor Podlech aufgestellt wurde. Neuere Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, daß dieser Name ein Synonym der sect. Irinaea B. Fedtschenko ist und das diese Sektion nicht mit den annuellen Astragali verwandt ist, sondern eine basale Gruppe der Untergattung Cercidothrix darstellt. 1 1 © Biodiversity Heritage Library, http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/; www.biologiezentrum.at 41 Schlüssel der annuellen Sektionen und der auszuschließenden Gattungen 1 Kelchzähne linealisch-stumpf, zsich während der Anthese verlängernd. Frucht nicht kugelig und nicht wollig behaart 2 2 Fflanzen medifix behaart. Fetalen den Kelch kaum überragend. Frucht eiförmig, einfächerig sect. Herpocaulos - Fetalen den Kelch deutlich überragend. Frucht verschiedenartig gestaltet, unvollständig bis vollständig zweifächerig, wenn einfächerig, dann schmallinealisch-gebogen. Behaarung verschiedenartig 3 3 Früchte schmallinealisch-gebogen, einfächerig, zwischen den Samen etwas eingeschnürt. Nebenblätter sehr klein, frei. Blütenstände sitzend oder sehr kurz gestielt, wenigblütig gen. Ophiocarpus - Früchte nie schmallinealisch-gebogen, nie eingeschnürt, immer ± zweifächerig. Übrige Merkmalskombination anders 4 4 Kelchzähne sehr ungleich lang. Schiffchen mindestens so lang meist aber deutlich länger als die Flügel. Haare immer basifix 5 - Kelchzähne ± gleich lang. Schiffchen kürzer als die Flügel oder alle Fetalen nahezu gleichlang 6 5 Frucht gestielt, dorsiventral sehr stark abgeflacht, bei der Reife über dem Stiel in 2 Teilen abbrechend, mit doppeltem Indument aus kurzen anliegenden und längeren, hakig gebogenen Haaren sect. Dipelta - Frucht verschiedenartig gestaltet, sitzend und nie in 2 Teilen abbrechend.
