Remote sensing using airborne and satellite sensors is an essential tool for rapidly investigating human traces over large surfaces of our planet, but even large monumental structures may be visible as only faint indications on the surface. In this paper, we demonstrate the utility of a machine learning approach using airborne laser scanning data to address a “needle-in-a-haystack” problem, which involves the search for remnants of Viking ring fortresses throughout Denmark. First ring detection was applied using the Hough circle transformations and template matching, which detected 202,048 circular features in Denmark. This was reduced to 199 candidate sites by using their geometric properties and the application of machine learning techniques to classify the cultural and topographic context of the features. Two of these near perfectly circular features are convincing candidates for Viking Age fortresses, and two are candidates for either glacial landscape features or simple meteor craters.

    International Study Guide Series Denmark Montana 4-H Center for Youth Development, Montana State University Extension 1 MONTANA 4‐H INTERNATIONAL STUDY SERIES The 4‐H program has had an active role in Montana youth and volunteer development for almost 100 years. It is most well‐known for its local emphasis, but 4‐H does exist in a broader context ‐ from a local to an international level. The ultimate objective of 4‐H international and cross‐cultural programming is "peace through understanding." Extension Service efforts help young people achieve this overall goal by encouraging them to: realize the significance of global interdependency; develop positive cross‐cultural attitudes and skills that enhance understanding and acceptance of people from other ethnic, social, or economic backgrounds; appreciate for the similarities and differences among all people; assume global citizenship responsibilities; develop an understanding of the values and attitudes of Americans. Since the introduction of international 4‐H opportunities in 1948, the Montana 4‐H program has been committed to the goal of global awareness and increasing cross‐cultural understanding. Cultures are becoming more dependent upon one another for goods, services, food, and fiber. Montana's role in the international trade arena is ever‐growing. The acquisition of increased knowledge of the markets and the people who influence those markets is crucial to the residents of our state. The 4‐H international programs are coordinated by States’ 4‐H International Exchange Programs (S4‐H) for participating state 4‐H Youth Development programs. Funding for the exchange programs is provided on the state level by the Montana 4‐H Foundation through private donations and contributions.

Rule 30 of the Olympic Charter assigns the international federations the responsibility to “establish and enforce, in accordance with the Olympic spirit, the rules concerning the practice of their respective sports and to ensure their application”. The mission of the NOC's, on the other hand, is to “fight against the use of substances and procedures prohibited by the IOC or the IFs”. This mission is focused upon political actions vis-à- vis the competent authorities of their respective countries. 2. The international federations enjoy the principal competence with regard to the fight against doping. The natural consequence of this is that their rules prevail over those which an NOC or national sports authority (for example an NF) might have enacted. 3. Pursuant to the UCI regulations, in case of endogenous steroids, a sample is deemed positive if the urine T/E ratio is above 6, unless this ratio is attributable to a physiological or pathological condition. The International Cycling Union (UCI) is an international federation of national cycling associations. UCI is governed by its constitution and regulations, among them the “Cycling Regulations” and the “Antidoping Examination Regulations”, the latter being most recently amended after approval of the UCI Management Committee on November 15th, 1997.

    Which nation is best in Nordic elite sport? Which nation is best in Nordic elite sport? An analysis of the results of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in international elite sport - past and present By Michael Andersen, Scandinavian Network for Elite Sport (1) This article focuses on elite sport in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, from historical and current perspectives. These Nordic nations have far more similarities than dissimilarities. They are all strong welfare models. Frequently, the model of Nordic welfare is admired by people, both inside and outside the Nordic nations. This model forms values, standards, structures and organization of a number of areas in the societies, including sport for all and elite sport. All four nations rank high in international comparison of e.g. economy, education, health or trust in public authorities. But how well do the nations perform, globally and among each other when it comes to elite sport? Why have they chosen four different elite sport models? Which nations prioritize winter sports, and which prioritize summer sports. And what sports - Olympic or non-Olympic - are the most competitive in each nation? These questions are attempted answered in the following pages.     REPORT doublepass.com @doublepass DANSK BOLDSPIL-UNION Double PASS 2016 - 2017 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY KEY STRENGTHS DBU and the League (Divisionsforeningen) are well respected in an international environment for its ambition and its overall approach and setup. The mission of the DBU allows for a broad perspective, encompassing both grassroots and professional football. The collaboration regarding talent development with the League is very positive and could potentially be replicated in other areas. The integration of the A+ coaches is a unique way to integrate talent follow up at club level. Focus is needed though to guarantee that these A+ coaches can stick to their core assignment of follow up of talents in the clubs. The basic football philosophy and curriculum of the DBU are clearly defined in ‘Den Røde Tråd’ and promoted by means of the coaching courses. The leagues decision to invest in quality assurance together with the A-, B- and some T-license clubs will be an important catalyst for further improvement at structural and football level. KEY RECOMMENDATIONS Structurally the split between grassroots and professional football, with the DBU as a third (overarching) instance, creates a challenge in areas such as data management, talent identification and the Youth National Teams. We would recommend to install more clarity in the remit of the technical direction. The connection with different committees to make specific decisions that touch upon the whole talent development pathway makes the overall process at times quite inefficient. Practically this would entail e.g.: o the integration of the start of talent ID at younger ages o quality assurance at grassroots level as well o data management across the board The scouting setup, together with the licensed clubs, should cover all the grassroots clubs in the different regions to guarantee that no talent will be lost.
