I agree totally with Rosemary about the spirit world. We are in this body for a short time, but in the spirit world forever. No spoilers, but I suggest reading The eagle and the rose first. She doesn't claim to be an author rather a storyteller. Jun 09, Mary rated it it was amazing. I especially like the "we don't like you anymore lesson", that everything we send out comes back to us, and when we hate or harm others we do it to ourselves even more. If people only knew this an acted on it, what a better world we would live in. The ghost who was stuck here was interesting also, but no mention was made of evil spirits, wonder what Grey Eagle has to say about them, and how to keep safe. Loved Grey Eagles thoughts or answers in the Laws and the Universe chapter in the book, especially the open mindedness as far as other beliefs, and that the main thing is to follow Gods plan of love and tolerance, and not any book Insights & Healing from The Voice of the Spirit World idea of man. Will continue my reading of Rosemary Insights & Healing from The Voice of the Spirit World books as well as my own personal quest. View 2 comments. Feb 02, Amanda Brown rated it really liked it. • I See Dead People: a Look at After-Death Communication
CHRISTIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE P.O. Box 8500, Charlotte, NC 28271 Feature Article: DD810 I SEE DEAD PEOPLE: A LOOK AT AFTER-DEATH COMMUNICATION by Marcia Montenegro This article first appeared in the Christian Research Journal, volume 25, number 1 (2002). For further information or to subscribe to the Christian Research Journal go to: http://www.equip.org SYNOPSIS Recent years have witnessed a revival of interest in contact with the dead. Much of this interest is due to the popularity of mediums such as John Edward, Sylvia Browne, and James Van Praagh. Edward and Van Praagh both have popular television shows, and all three have written best-selling books and have appeared on numerous talk shows. Several movies, such as the hit, The Sixth Sense, have also made spirit contact the theme of their stories. Sylvia Browne and James Van Praagh do not practice spirit contact in a vacuum; they have complex spiritual beliefs spelled out in their books and expressed on talk shows. While Edward claims to be Roman Catholic, Browne and Van Praagh have openly rejected orthodox Christianity and embraced a nonjudgmental God more tailored to New Age beliefs. Edward, Browne, and Van Praagh all have backgrounds that include heavy psychic experiences as well as research into the occult and psychic worlds. Skeptics have denounced these mediums and attempted to expose them as frauds. This raises questions: Are all mediums frauds, and can we be sure that they are? Is it possible that some mediums may be receiving information from a demonic source? Is the classification of mediums as frauds a helpful response? Despite seemingly being debunked by skeptics, mediums still generate strong interest.

  • Cults and Cosmic Consciousness: Religious Vision in the American 1960S
Cults and Cosmic Consciousness: Religious Vision in the American 1960s CAMILLE PAGLIA 1. eclipse by politics Commentary on the 1960s has been mas- sive. Law and politics in that turbulent decade are well doc- umented but remain controversial, and the same thing can be said of contemporary innovations in mass media and the arts. One major area remains ambiguous or poorly assimi- lated, however—the new religious vision, which for a tanta- lizing moment in the American sixties brought East and West together in a progressive cultural synthesis. Its promise was never completely fulfilled, for reasons I will try to sketch here. But the depth and authenticity of that spiritual shift need to be more widely acknowledged. A political model currently governs interpretations of the sixties because of the enduring reform movements born in that period, including environmentalism, feminism, and gay liberation. Their mobilizing energy, as well as the organiza- tional style that would also be adopted by antiwar protests, initially came from the civil rights movement sparked by the us Supreme Court’s 1954 decision declaring segregation in public schools unconstitutional. In that crusade, it must be remembered, ordained Protestant ministers such as Martin Luther King, Jr., played a leading role, as they also had in nineteenth-century abolitionism. The civil rights movement, with its hymns and anthems, appealed not just to secular standards of social justice but to a higher moral code. An expanded version of a lecture delivered on 26 March 2002 at Yale University, sponsored by the Institute for the Advanced Study of Religion at Yale.
