The present knowledge is listed in a table. First (and provisional) results of actual work at some locali- 25 ties in Central Germany will be discussed. A newly discovered rocky shore fauna from the Mammendorf quarry 26 west of Magdeburg is of special interest. Furthermore, a new proposal concerning the lithostratigraphy of Early 27 Oligocene deposits south of Leipzig will be introduced. 28 Schlüsselwörter: Biostratigrafie, Lithostratigrafie, marine Faunen, Mitteldeutschland, Oligozän, Paläogen, 29 Priabon 30 Keywords: Paleogene, Priabonian, Oligocene, marine fauna, lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, Central Germany 31 32 33 1. -

Middle Miocene (Badenian) gastropods from Korytnica, Poland; Part IV – Turridae. Acta Geologica Polonica, 53 (1), 29-78. Warszawa. This report is the fourth part of the monograph of the surprisingly rich assemblage of gastropods occurring in the so- called Pleurotoma Clays of Middle Miocene (Badenian) age, exposed in the environs of Korytnica in the Holy Cross Mountains, Central Poland. It contains characteristics of 101 prosobranch species of one family, the Turridae. Within this assemblage, five species are new for the science (including one, formerly reported from Korytnica, but deter- mined erroneously); of the recognized species as many as 72 have not hitherto been reported from Korytnica, and 66 from the Miocene of Poland. As the new species established are: Clavatula kowalewskii sp.nov., Perrona (Perrona) czarnockii sp.nov., Turricula (Surcula) korytnicensis sp.nov., Cythara (Mangelia) cibori sp.nov., and Bela sanctacrucen- sis sp.nov. ABSTRACT - The integration of sedimentary facies analysis, ichnology and benthic mollusc quantitative paleoecology allowed interpretation of factors that have controlled the deposition of the alluvial to marine succession outcropping in Northwestern Sicily (Southern Italy) at Altavilla Milicia, near Palermo (Imerese Basin). Two main marine units are recognised, labelled CNM and ALT, separated by an angular unconformity and formed by elementary depositional sequences (CNM1-4, ALT1-5). -
Xanthodaphne Contarinii N.Sp. Dai Depositi Pliocenici Dell'emilia
Quaderno di Studi e Notizie di Storia Naturale della Romagna Quad. Studi Nat. Romagna, 50: 1-11 (dicembre 2019) ISSN 1123-6787 Paolo Petracci, Claudio Bongiardino, Giano Della Bella & Cesare Tabanelli Xanthodaphne contarinii n.sp. dai depositi pliocenici dell’Emilia-Romagna (Gastropoda: Caenogastropoda: Raphitomidae) Abstract [Xanthodaphne contarinii n.sp. from the Pliocene deposits of Emilia-Romagna (Gastropoda, Caenogastropoda, Raphitomidae)] The fossil species Xanthodaphne contarinii n.sp. is described, found in various localities of Emilia- Romagna in clayey sediments of the Pliocene age (Piacenziano). The new species probably living on muddy substrates of the deep circalitoral and epibatial, in warm temperate waters. Key words: Gastropoda, Raphitomidae, Xanthodaphne, new species, Pliocene, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. -

Bathymetrical and Temporal Variations in Soft-Bottom Molluscan Assemblages in the Coastal Area Facing the Sarno River Mouth (Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Naples)
Ecological Questions 31(2020)4 http://dx.doi.org/10.12775/EQ.2020.028 Bathymetrical and temporal variations in soft-bottom molluscan assemblages in the coastal area facing the Sarno River mouth (Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Naples) Luigia Donnarumma, Roberto Sandulli, Luca Appolloni*, Federica Ferrigno, Francesco Rendina, Floriana Di Stefano, Giovanni Fulvio Russo Department of Science and Technology, Parthenope University of Naples, 80143 Naples, Italy; CoNISMa (National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences), 00196 Rome, Italy *Corresponding author e-mail: [email protected] Received: 15 May 2020 / Accepted: 2 July 2020 Abstract – Molluscan assemblage of coastal area facing the very polluted Sarno River estuary to offshore (Gulf of Naples, Italy) was studied, focusing on temporal and depth-related distribution of species diversity, quali-quantitative composition and trophic guilds structure. A total of 9 stations, at depths ranging between 7 and 95m, were sampled in triplicate by means of a 0.17 m2 Van Veen grab in four sampling occasions (2 seasons, winter and summer, during 2 years, 2015 and 2016). A total of 1,744 individuals, belonging to 78 species and 3 classes (Bivalvia, Gastropoda and Scaphopoda), was recorded. Bivalves, followed by gastropods, qualitatively and quantitatively dominated the mollusc assemblages and both these taxonomic groups showed the highest values in the shallower stations down to about 25 m depth. In the deeper stations, only the bivalve taxon was dominant, even though exhibiting a much lower species richness and abundance. On the overall, the molluscan species were ascribed to 6 feeding guilds: Suspension and deposit feeders were the dominant trophic groups, occurring at all stations along the bathymetrical gradient, while predators, detritus feeders, ecto-parasites and scavengers were poorly represented and mainly occurred in the shallowest stations. -
