As you begin to plan your term and yearly program with your girls there are a number of badges and activities that the girls might like to include during the year. Here are just a few. 2007 has been designated the Guides Australia Year of the Outdoors. Throughout the year we will be giving you lots of ideas to include in your program that involve activities based on the outdoors.

World Thinking Day 2007

World Thinking Day 2007 theme is "Discover your Potential by taking the lead, growing friendships, and speaking out." What issues matter most to Australian girls of today? Which ones can they tackle in their local area? Are these the same concerns as in other countries?

Take the Lead - giving girls the chance to develop leadership skills in a friendly and supportive girls worldwide say environment

"world thinking day" Grow - allowing girls to grow friendships and self esteem and there by growing membership 22nd Feb 2007 Speak Out - allowing girls the opportunities to discuss issues that affect them and their peers, and to take action You will find a number of activities, fund-raising ideas and images at the World Thinking Day website - http://www.worldthinkingday.org/en/home

The Right to Food: A Window on the World' is a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) educational story book with lots of great activities. Your Region International Co-ordinator has a copy if you can't access www.wagggsworld.org Whether you will be on your own or part of a group, whatever you decide to do on World Thinking Day this year, you can mark the occasion with the new Thinking Day badge, (pic left).

World Thinking Day Fund

The big challenge for each of us annually is to put our thoughts into action by raising money for the World Thinking Day Fund, as part of our celebrations or activities. Any donations should be sent to Guides Victoria for forwarding on to the World Association. This money can then used to help Guiding where it is needed most.

By pooling the contributions from many people, WAGGGS has great buying power, can tackle large projects and can provide exactly what is most needed. Often purchases can be made in the countries concerned and in the process, support their struggling economies. In many countries, the majority of people live on less than $1 a week and any small extra income makes a huge difference to whole families.
