3/12/19 Contacts: Sheila SMith, 651-251-0868 Executive Director, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts Kathy Mouacheupao, 651-645-0402 Executive Director, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Creative Minnesota 2019 Study Reveals Growth of Arts and Culture Sector in Twin Cities Metropolitan Area Minnesota SAINT PAUL, MN: Creative Minnesota, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council released a new study today indicating that the arts and culture sector in Twin Cities Metropolitan Area is groWing. “The passage of the Legacy AMendment in Minnesota allowed the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and Minnesota State Arts Board to increase support for the arts and culture in this area, and that has had a big iMpact,” said Sheila SMith, Executive Director of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts. “It’s wonderful to see how the access to the arts has groWn in this area over tiMe.” The Legacy Amendment was passed by a statewide vote of the people of Minnesota in 2008 and created dedicated funding for the arts and culture in Minnesota. The legislature appropriates the dollars from the Legacy Arts and Culture Fund to the Minnesota State Arts Board, Regional Arts Councils, Minnesota Historical Society and other entities to provide access to the arts and culture for all Minnesotans. “Creative Minnesota’s new 2019 report is about Minnesota’s arts and creative sector. It includes stateWide, regional and local looks at nonprofit arts and culture organizations, their audiences, artists and creative Workers. This year it also looks at the availability of arts education in Minnesota schools,” said SMith. “We also include the results of fifteen local studies that show substantial economic iMpact from the nonprofit arts and culture sector in every corner of the state, including $4.9 million in the City of Eagan, $2.4 million in the City of Hastings, 11 million in the City of Hopkins, $4 million in the Maple Grove Area, $541 million in the City of Minneapolis, and $1.5 million in the City St. -

The state 'e two largest schools (Kansas University at Lawrence and Kansas State University at Manhattan) tried unsuccessfully for ~^ny years to gain legislative funds to start a state-wide ETV net- work. This thesis is the story of efforts for a thirty-six yeai period to establish educational television in a state that is now surrounded by large state-wide ETV systems. The efforts of the state schools failed in the Legislature, and Washburn Uni- versity (a small municipal university in Topeka , Kansas) even- tually becaae the operator of the only Kansas ETV station broadcasting in June, 1°68. This study is significant because of the existence of elaborate ETV stations and micro-wave systems in bordering states. Has Kansas lagged behind neighborning states in the area of school support of audio-visual devices? PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences Last modified July 13, 2010 The current Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with specialization in Pharmacy graduate program is offered by the Department of Pharmaceutics. The departmental faculty has decided to use 'track' method for accommodating the diversityy of the Department's graduate population, its multi- and interdisciplinary. The focus of the Department of Pharmaceutics, whiich houses the Center for Drug Discovery, differs sufficiently from that of other departments as to justify a specialization. The uniqueness of the department is evident in present reesearch activities which encompass basic, applied and clinical investigations in the areas of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Drug Delivery, and Drug Discovery. Minnesota Emergency Alert System Statewide Plan 2018 MINNESOTA EAS STATEWIDE PLAN Revision 10 Basic Plan 01/31/2019 I. REASON FOR PLAN The State of Minnesota is subject to major emergencies and disasters, natural, technological and criminal, which can pose a significant threat to the health and safety of the public. The ability to provide citizens with timely emergency information is a priority of emergency managers statewide. The Emergency Alert System (EAS) was developed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide emergency information to the public via television, radio, cable systems and wire line providers. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, (IPAWS) was created by FEMA to aid in the distribution of emergency messaging to the public via the internet and mobile devices. It is intended that the EAS combined with IPAWS be capable of alerting the general public reliably and effectively. This plan was written to explain who can originate EAS alerts and how and under what circumstances these alerts are distributed via the EAS and IPAWS. II. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF PLAN A. Purpose When emergencies and disasters occur, rapid and effective dissemination of essential information can significantly help to reduce loss of life and property. The EAS and IPAWS were designed to provide this type of information. However; these systems will only work through a coordinated effort. The purpose of this plan is to establish a standardized, integrated EAS & IPAWS communications protocol capable of facilitating the rapid dissemination of emergency information to the public. B. Guidance for Instructional Faculty Appointments
GUIDANCE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY APPOINTMENTS A. Applicability This guidance applies to any faculty member who has a fixed-term contract with teaching as the primary responsibility. A faculty member with such an appointment is called an "instructional faculty member" in this document. This guidance in this document does not apply to: (1) a person whose appointment is tenured or tenure-eligible; (2) an academic professional; (3) anyone with a fixed-term contract that contains the word "research", " practice", or "visiting" in the position title. This guidance is consistent with the Conditions of Faculty Service, ACD 501/ABOR·6-201. B. Common expectations and requirements for instructional faculty members Instructional faculty appointments are offered based on the needs of the academic units and colleges. Anyone hired as an instructional faculty member must be appropriately qualified for the role and rank of the appointment. In particular, the North Central Association's Higher Learning Commission (which accredits ASU's academic programs) requires that a person hired for an instructional faculty appointment must possess an academic degree (1) relevant to what the person will be teaching AND (2) at least one level above the level of the courses the person teaches. Exceptions to the degree requirement are possible if the person surmounts a minimum threshold of experience in lieu of a degree (established in advance of hire) OR the person possesses the terminal degree in the discipline and is teaching graduate courses in that discipline. For the ranked categories of instructional faculty appointments, the offered rank must be based on unit-, college-, and Provost- approved criteria. -

Radio K (KUOM), the award-winning student-run July 2010 (7) radio station of the University of Minnesota has covered a lot CCE Current Archive of (widely varied) ground in its 100-year history. ccetimes Archive Radio broadcasting at the University of Minnesota began as an experiment in 1912 (and although transmissions were officially suspended during WWI, football games were broadcast in Morse code in 1915). By 1920, programming had resumed, and on January 13, 1922, the U received the first official radio broadcasting license issued for the state of Minnesota (AM 770, call sign WLB; changed to KUOM in 1945). As of today, the station is the 10th oldest still on the air, beating out WHA at the University of Wisconsin Madison by a few hours, and makes Radio K the oldest licensed non-commercial broadcast station in the country. -
