BALEAF News Passing of Anna A. Ong (Adams) By Tim Foley

On Thursday August 16, 2012 Anna Ong (Adams) passed away peacefully after a long battle with spinal cancer. Her husband Paul Ong, was at her side and had stopped working to care for her 24/7 for the last 8 months. Anna was one of the first women police officers in the SFPD, a great street cop and partner. She served with distinction at Northern and Potrero Stations. While at Northern she was one the first female FTOs. She trained numerous recruits and was an excellent role model for all men and women and a mentor to many. She left the Department after fracturing her back during a fight while stationed at Potrero. After leaving the department she mar- ried Paul Ong, moved to Nevada City and became active in the community, serving on the Grand Jury in Nevada County. Amongst so many of her accomplishments, she will live on through her book, “Amazon Dreams.” There was, and never will be, anyone like Anna. She was generous, kind, beautiful and so brave. She truly enriched the lives of those she touched. She will be missed. Memorial services are being planned and will be held in a month both in Nevada City and San Francisco. Dates will be announced soon. Retired member Tim Foley, Anna’s partner for many years will act as the primary contact. Email: [email protected] Tax deductible donations are being accepted through BALEAF to assist Paul with funeral, and the memorial costs. Kindly send donations to: Bay Area Law Enforcement Assistance Fund P.O. Box 31764, San Francisco, Ca. 94131 (Checks to BALEAF with a notation for the Anna Fund)
