Development Manager, Arts / Arts Education / Youth Workforce Fresh Films is a non-profit that develops Emmy-nominated youth and family films, TV shows and documentaries, while engaging, mentoring and training underserved youth in the film-production process at all levels to build artistic, technical and 21st century/workplace skills like collaboration, problem solving and communication. We prepare and place youth into internships, jobs and career paths in the $771B media & entertainment industry (which includes non traditional jobs in social media as well as traditional producers) while driving diversity of storytellers and media-makers. Fresh Films alumni work on SuperGirl, on Chicago Fire, at Disney, BET, TBS, and our 2009 program alum Ramy Youssef just won a Golden Globe! We hope to put more underserved on that trajectory through building their skills and confidence and opportunities.

Recent productions include The AT&T Hello Sunshine Filmmaker Lab with on ​ ​ DirecTV that had 41 teens girls on-set and THE STREAM featuring Rainn Wilson and Mario Lopez which ​ ​ had 165 teens involved in the production. Fresh Films is located on the campus of Augustana College, but serves teens in multiple locations including Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, NY/NJ, Los Angeles, the Quad Cities and nationally.

Position Summary Fresh Films is looking for a passionate, self-motivated professional to lead Foundation fundraising among Film, Arts Education and Youth Workforce Development funders both regionally and nationally. We are looking for an individual who can cultivate and engage new foundation grant officers and prospects through phone, email, meetings and beyond. They should have a proven track record of growing contributed revenue and meeting fundraising goals, preferably from larger national donors, and are willing and excited to build the development slate of new donors. Working with film, arts and/or youth is a plus.

Role and Responsibilities ● Identify and pursue new foundation donors (family, private or corporate foundations) focused on Film, Arts Education and/or Youth Workforce development. ● Actively cultivate, solicit, and steward new contributions and donations through research, email and phone outreach, in-person meetings and active follow up before and after grants ● Develop and maintain an active calendar of foundation deadlines ● Work with in-house grant writer to best position Fresh Films within the context of the foundation’s giving strategy (i.e. if they are focused on arts education or job training via the arts) ● Innovate with Managing Director to identify new opportunities for program expansion and funding that might meet donor needs (i.e sponsorship or government) ● Work with in-house grant admin to submit necessary donor processing, tracking, and reporting ● Be able to passionately share Fresh Films mission with the ability to connect Fresh Films’ work and partnerships into the larger landscape of arts & film, youth development, workforce development and STEAM. ● Actively build relationships and seek funding from national donors or regional donors in our key areas of Chicago, Minneapolis, Jersey City and Los Angeles (with additional 1-2 regions added yearly).

Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree required ● Minimum 2-5 years of experience in fundraising with emphasis on corporate and foundation fundraising; with preferred experience with larger national funders in film/arts and experience in securing larger five and six-figure grants. Additional experience in youth development, youth/arts, STEAM or workforce development a plus. ● Demonstrated ability to build relationships with prospective donors ● Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, develop, manage, and grow donor contributed revenue through calls, emails, meetings and other ways to foster donor relations. ● Expertise in connecting with new donors and uncovering opportunities for support through Internet research, analyzing past giving, looking at grant guidelines/requirements, and 1-to-1 conversations. ● Self-motivated with ability to meet deadlines and goals while working independently on multiple prospects / grants concurrently; while communicating with Managing Director in remote location. ● Strong email writing skills, strong phone skills, desire to meet and learn from new potential donors and the ability to articulate complex programs, present exciting partnership opportunities, negotiate & close deals and report on progress and outcomes. ● Solutions-oriented and intellectually curious with a passion to uncover opportunities ● Knowledge of google-drive doc sharing a must; knowledge of Donor Perfect a plus ● NOTE: The job is focused on foundation giving (not individual, stewardship or other elements of fundraising) so please be sure your interest & experience is with foundation outreach & engagement!)

Working Environment ● Remote position in any city for a person with the right track record of growing large donations and experience with national funders and/or funders in other regions ● The position will travel as necessary, locally, regionally, and nationally (paid for by company)
