Fire up your Lunar New Year festivities at The Star

Ignite your Lunar New Year celebrations at The Star Sydney this February with Asian-themed dining offers, cultural events, daily entertainment, a Penfolds pop-up bar at Sky Terrace, The Sydney Morning Herald Lunar Markets (4-14 February 2016), and much more.

The Star’s Lunar New Year celebrations are proudly supported by celebrity ambassadors, Luke Nguyen of The Star’s Fat Noodle and Taiwanese born Australian actress, Grace Huang.

The Star is also proud Leadership Partner of City of Sydney’s Festival, which celebrates the city’s rich Asian culture with more than 80 events taking place in the heart of Sydney from 6-21 February, 2016.

The Sydney Morning Herald Lunar Markets presented by The Star | 4-14 February

In partnership with Fairfax Events, the 11-day festival celebrates Asian cuisine and culture in Pyrmont Bay Park. Highlights include The Star’s Fat Noodle and The Century pop-up stalls, as well as a special appearance from celebrity chef Luke Nguyen on Thursday, 4 February.

The Star will present the ‘The Star Lunar Bamboo Garden’, offering foodies a lush oasis in the heart of the Lunar Markets where they can dine in style under a canopy of parasols.

The Star will also sweeten the Lunar Markets experience with a game of 'Lucky Dim Sum' where visitors can win a prize worth up to $100. Prizes can be redeemed across a multitude of venues at The Star including Messina Gelato, Fat Noodle, Harvest Buffet, Sokyo, BLACK by ezard and The Darling Spa.

Gather your friends and family, soak up the atmosphere, and celebrate the Year of the Monkey. Entry is free weekdays from 5pm until late and weekends from 4pm until late.

Sky Terrace Penfolds Bar | 4-28 February

Head up to Sydney’s best rooftop bar, Sky Terrace and enjoy panoramic views with live DJs, a Penfolds pop- up bar and Asian theming. Open Thursday to Sunday throughout the Lunar New Year period.

Lunar Feasts at Fat Noodle | 6-21 February

Fat Noodle is celebrating its sixth birthday this Lunar New Year with a two-course feast including a salmon yu sheng salad, and a lunar prosperous with braised sea cucumber, prawn cutlets, fragrant shiitake mushrooms, black moss in abalone sauce and long life noodle soup for $50 per person.

Lunar Feasts at The Century | 6-21 February

Choose from The Century’s signature dishes or enjoy a Lunar New Year six-course feast with family and friends featuring the hero dish ‘Fat Choy Lo Hei’ salmon sashimi salad, signature dim sum platter, san choy bow, salt & pepper squid, crispy skin chicken and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The six-course meal is priced at $50 per person for four or more guests.

Harvest Buffet

Enjoy unlimited fresh seafood including oysters, prawns, snow crab, spanner crab, mussels and clams at the newly revamped Harvest Buffet for dinner on Friday, and lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch is priced from $48.90 for adults and $22 for children aged five to 12, and dinner is $69.90 for adults and $22 for children aged five to 12. Children four and under eat free. No bookings.

Food Quarter | 8-11 February

Fire up your taste buds at The Star’s Food Quarter with Lunar New Year specials including wok tossed Chinese radish cake in XO sauce ($16.50) and Asian style chilli crab ($26.50).

Sokyo | 1-21 February

Embrace the taste of Tokyo with Lunar New Year specials by Sokyo’s Executive Chef, Chase Kojima. Choose from a lou sang New Year salad ($23), twice cooked wagyu intercostal with sansho Sichuan caramel and pickled turnip ($32), or stir-fried squid with oyster sauce, scorched chilli oil, grilled sugar snap pea and pickled chilli ($24).

Daily Performances at The Star | 4-14 February

The Star will again play host to an assortment of free daily performances throughout the Lunar New Year to delight guests including Chinese musicians, silk ribbon performers, lion dancers, stilt performers, Tai Chi performers and more. Daily performances will commence at the Edward Street entrance from 6:30pm and weave past The Star sign on Pirrama Road and throughout The Star finishing at 10pm.

The Star’s Fortune Mahjong Garden | 6-14 February

Enjoy the warmth of a Sydney summer evening at The Star’s Fortune Mahjong Garden in Martin Place every evening during City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival for a free game of Mahjong. Guests will be able to play Mahjong and Baida Mahjong for a chance to win a variety of prizes and discounts for use at The Star. Open Sunday to Wednesday 5pm-9pm and Thursday to Saturday 5pm-10pm.

Lunar Lanterns: The Ox | 6-14 February

The Ox lantern in Sydney’s bustling Martin Place and Macquarie Street is brought to Sydney by The Star and represents one of 12 spectacular lanterns illuminating Sydney's iconic locations as part of City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival. The magic celestial ox, comprising hundreds of illuminated Mahjong tiles, was created by artist Tianli Zu. The Ox is known for its diligence, dependability, strength and determination, and forms part of a trail across the Harbour, CBD and Haymarket. Chinese New Year Gala Night 2016 | Saturday, 13 February, 8pm

Bringing the funniest talk show, the most popular Chinese songs and extravagant dances, the Chinese New Year Gala Night at The Star Event Centre is a fascinating fusion of traditional folk art and Chinese pop culture. The Star’s Celestial Dragon | 3 February-March

Take a Lunar New Year selfie with The Star’s spectacular Celestial Dragon installation which is back in the Grand Foyer in celebration of this auspicious occasion. This year, a new design element celebrating the Year of the Monkey has been added to the installation. Representing the most popular and powerful good fortune symbol in , the Dragon was assembled by a team of sculptors and artists and accredited by a Feng Shui Master.
