In 2018, UMG became the first major global music company to license music to the service, which has continued to grow its audience reach and influence across Africa in recent years. Boomplay’s catalog currently stands at more than 50 million tracks and it boasts the largest repertoire of local African content globally, with 50million monthly active users (MAU). Date completed: August 2006 Problem The majority of the Malagasy people who live in Madagascar are unreached with the gospel message. A preliminary investigation of current literature indicated that 50 percent of the Malagasy are followers of traditional religions. This present study was to develop a strategy to reach the animistic people with the gospel message. Method This study presents Malagasy people, their social characteristics, population, worldviews, and lifestyles. A study;and evaluation of Malagasy beliefs and practices were developed using Hiebert's model of critical contextualization. Results The study reveals that the Seventh-day Adventist Church must update its evangelistic methods to reach animistic people and finish the gospel commission in Madagascar. -

Music Industries in Africa and the Interconnections with Former
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This paper is a preliminary study of the structure of the music industries in Africa. The purpose of this preliminary study is to identify the main structures and status of music industries in Africa, and to investigate, clarify and explain the possible connections between the countries in Africa and their former colonizing countries. The guiding research question was as follows: “What are the main music industries in Africa, and what are the business relationships between these countries and their former colonizing countries?” The methodologies that I used for this research were a literature review and exploratory interviews with different music professionals. The data collected from both methods was compared with secondary data from other sources, such as music industry reports and peer- reviewed articles. This research report includes an introduction to the problem area and a critical literature review, a description of the research methods used, an introduction to the participants, a presentation of the results and analysis of the research, and a discussion of the main findings. 1 TABLE OF CONTENTS 1. afrikai zene AFRIKAI CITERÁK BRAUER-BENKE JÓZSEF A romantika időszakában Kelet-Európa népeinek a népdal, majd idővel a hangszeres népzene is ősi autentikus forrást jelentett, amit napjaink neofolklorizmusa is kincs- ként őriz és próbál megőrizni, továbbadni – illetve, amiből mindenkor merítve lehet a modern feldolgozásokat is „hitelesíteni”. Ezzel párhuzamosan a modern nyugati társadalmak – hagyományos népi kultúrájuk már nem lévén – felfedezték az álta- luk leigázott és korábban lenézett szubszaharai Afrika népcsoportjai hagyományos kultúrájának a modern élethez leginkább adaptálható szeletét, a zenét és annak hangszereit. Afrikával kapcsolatban elmaradhatatlan bevezető gondolat, miszerint az afrikaiak számára a zene a születéstől kezdve az élet elhagyhatatlan része, mert szinte valamennyi hétköznapi tevékenységet, legyen az vallásos szertartás, ünnep, munka vagy gyász, de még a harcot is autentikus zene kíséri. Szintén hozzájárult az „Afrika és a zene” gondolattársításhoz, hogy az afrikai zene szerteágazó hatásai különféle zenei műfajokban, ún. world music, black music, afroamerikai és afrolatin zene, stb. fúziókban is megnyilvánulnak. Emiatt – habár mára már egyre nyilván- valóbb, hogy Afrikában sem zenélt mindenki, mert ott is adott népcsoport vagy társadalmi csoport specialistái foglalkoztak a zenei jellegű szolgáltatásokkal és a többiek csak hallgatták vagy táncoltak –, a még mindig dominánsan afrocentrikus világzene hatásának következményeként általánosan elterjedt nézet, miszerint az afrikaiaknak „vérükben van a zene”. While the literature on creolization often treats it as mobile and processual, transgressing the boundaries of the nation-state, for Seychellois in both places being Afro-Creole is underpinned by an idea of rootedness and tradition. -
