GUILHEM ET JEAN-HUGUES Goisot “No one but no one delivers more quality for the price than Goisot. The quality is flat out amazing, particularly given the modest appellations with which he works.” Allen Meadows, Burghound, 2011. “Simply stunning...here, surely, is one of the greatest Domaines of the Yonne...” Le Grand Guide des Vins de France, 2011. 2009 & 2010 NEW RELEASES Below we offer the coveted and remarkably priced new vintages from the ‘Pope of St Bris’. Pure, textural, limestone-enriched Chardonnay and vinous Sauvignons from St-Bris and Côte d’Auxerre. Piquant, lacy Pinot Noir from Irancy and Côte d’Auxerre. Two top-drawer vintages; pulsatingly mineral 2009s and intense, low yielding and piercingly fresh 2010s. In Les Meilleurs Vins de France (France’s leading wine guide) only two Do - maines in the entire Yonne/Chablis area receive a higher rating than Goisot: Vincent Dauvissat and Raveneau. Enough said! The wines of Domaine Goisot are for those open- possible. The vineyards are planted to 10,000 vines per minded drinkers who don’t stress over vineyard names, acre, roughly twice the regional norm. Goisot has one person per two and a half hectares, These are textural yet racy wines with a rich, stony compared to the six hectare average. The viticulture is complexity that speaks loudly of the chalky soils of the certified biodynamic and yields are kept very low.

  • Some Tasting Notes and Inspired Food Pairings
WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS WCoMC Wine Club invites you to join a Virtual Wine Tasting – Friday 13th November 2020 The Judgement of Dorset Given the continuing climate change across France and England are English vineyards now challenging their French counterparts? background notes and suggestions for food pairing with thanks to Patrick McHugh, Ann Chapman and John Blackburn A bit of background Following in the footsteps of our "Chablis to Savour" evening, the WCoMC Wine Club has found an English vineyard that could soon be challenging the French producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, not to mention the producers of sparkling wines in the Champagne region. Back in 1976 there was a famous wine tasting experiment, subsequently called The Judgement of Paris: the best of French wines were pitched against Californian wines; nine of the best wine tasters in France were involved. We are following in their footsteps by tasting two Dorset wines and comparing them to their traditional French counterparts. Chardonnay was born from a cross between Pinot Noir and Gouais (a white grape variety) and enjoys a special position in Burgundy. It is nearly the only grape variety found in Burgundy white wines and has conquered the world thanks to its ability to adapt to all soils and climates, making it the most widely planted quality white grape variety in the world. Similarly, Pinot Noir grapes are chiefly associated with the Burgundy region, although also grown around the world, mostly in cooler climates, making red as well as sparkling wines (including Champagne). The Bride Valley Vineyard is located in West Dorset, and is owned and run by Steven and Bella Spurrier.

  • Our Vineyard
stablished in Chablis since 1980 and after working in different vineyards through France, Olivier Tricon decided to come back to help his father, who wanted to develop the bottled EE wines sale. Since we have formed a domain which is now over 40 hectares. This vineyard estate is worked in full ownership and production spreads out from Bourgogne to Chablis Grand Cru. All commercialisation is done from our wine cellar. The sales increasing progress induced us to re-examine our policy of production. We turned ourselves to buy grapes produced by other vine-grower in Chablis. Due to this, we became merchant-breeders. The grapes bought mellow during the harvesting season are pressed and matures at our cellar, so as to guarantee a constant quality and to have a full control of the production process. OUR VINEYARD Vineyard Chablis Ground Ground formed of fossils, marl & marly-limestone from upper Jurassic (Kimmeridge). Grape variety Exclusively Chardonnay for white wines Exclusively Pinot Noir for red wines Climate Hard-continental (hence the necessity of juice heating at springtime). On the other hand, the month of July is dry and hot. Climatic conditions give to the wine of Chablis some wealth in sugar and a good rate of acidity, what is essential for these types of wines. • Chablis Premier Cru
Chablis Premier Cru APPELLATION D’ORIGINE CONTRÔLÉE Appellation Premier Cru of the Chablis wine-growing region (Yonne). This appellation comprises 40 Premier Cru Climats (named plots of vine- growing land). Each commune or hamlet within the appellation has one or more main Climats, the name of which may be applied to the other Premier Cru Climats in that commune. There are 17 main Climats. Producing communes: Beine, Chablis, La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, Chichée, Courgis, Fleys, Fontenay-près-Chablis, Fyé, Maligny, Milly, Poinchy. In this appellation, the words Premier Cru and/or the name of the Climat of origin may be added to the name CHABLIS for wines grown on Premier Cru plots. TASTING NOTES White: pale gold in colour. To the nose, the full extent of its aromatic potential is not instantly apparent. It needs a little airing. This is a wine with good aging potential (5 or sometimes up to 10 years). Each Climat has its own typicity, depending on soil and exposure. The wines are well-built and long in the mouth. The Chablis Premier Cru wines beguile the palate, whether mineral and tight in their youth or flowery and developing delicate and subtle aromas with age. SERVING SUGGESTIONS The nose does not immediately express the full potential of this wine - it needs a little airing. It can be enjoyed young (5 years old) as well as aged (10 years old). Aromatically, Chablis Premier Cru is highly complex and therefore highly adaptable. Good matches will include cooked oysters and fish in sauce. The more mineral versions of this wine can be served with fine poultry or veal in white sauce.
