Call Number: Archival Collection 39 Quantity: 1 linear foot (1 box) Abstract: The Neville Robert von Dwingelo photographs, 1950-1959 contain 272 black-and- white negatives, color transparencies, and contact prints. Images include the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance races, French Grand Prix at Reims-Gueux, 12 Hours of Reims, and the Paris Motor Show. In addition, there are photos from the “Cape Codders” SCCA sports car races, and various racing images around Europe from the 1950s. Also included are images of Juan Manuel Fangio and Fritz “Huschke” Von Hanstein. Biography: Neville Robert von Dwingelo (1930-2007) was a professional photographer of sports car races in the 1950s. He was born on May 24, 1930 in Darien, Connecticut and attended the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1957. From 1951 through 1954, von Dwingelo enlisted in the United States Army Signal Corps and was posted in Europe during the Korean War. During this time, he attended motorsports events and took photographs. In addition, he also ran his own photography studio in Connecticut.
