'J"H E Council has the pleasure of placing in the hands ol Members the fifth instalment of Staffordshire Parish Registers for the present year consisting of portions of the following : — Parish. Deanery. StaffordshireAlstonfield (Part IV.) Alstonfield. M ilwich R ugeley Hamstall Ridware Stafford It is intended that the Parishes of each Deanery shall be bound up together Every Register will, however, be separately paginated so that Members may adopt any other more convenient method of arrangement. The present issue is in respect of the Subscriptions for 1904. A further instalment of Registers will be issued in December. Subscriptions for 1904 should now be forwarded to the Treasurer of Samplethe StaffordshireCounty Parish Register Society, Lloyds Bank Stafford. 1 ' c Indexing.—The Council will be very pleased to receive offers of help in indexing the various Registers. The work is not difficult and can be completed in leisure time. Offers of help may be sent to the Editor. Assistance in this way will enable us to issue a larger amount of Registers Studiesthan would be otherwise possible, as the expense of indexing is always considerable. Transcription.—The work of the Society would be very greatly hastened if a few Members would undertake to transcribe the Registers in their respective districts. Those who have had no experience of antient handwriting might undertake to do the modern period, i.e., from 1754 to 18 12 . A pamphlet containing full instructions, together with some specimen alphabets of old register handwriting, has been prepared which Mr. Phillimore will send to any Member who proposes to help in the work of transcription. Binding.—Cases for binding the Registers in Deaneries will be supplied on the completion of each.     The Flora of Staffordshire, 2011. Update No. 5 (October, 2015). 1. Add itional Herbarium Records. The online project Herbaria@home involves volunteers digitising the information from the herbarium sheets held by museums and universities. The results to date, relating to Staffordshire specimens, have been examined. Not all specimens were correctly identified by the original recorder. In particular the names applied to some Rosa and many Rubus specimens conflict with modern taxonomy. However, there are several important early records not included in this or earlier Floras. As a consequence, the previously thought earliest date for some taxa needs to be corrected; and a few significant later records need to be added. The resulting modified species accounts are given below.     local environment agency pi DOVE ENVIRONMENTAL OVERVIEW AUGUST 1999 Ashbourne Dove LEAP Foreword I am delighted to introduce the Consultation Draft for the Dove Local Environment Agency Plan. This is the third LEAP to be produced in the Upper Trent Area of the Midlands Region and looks at environmental issues within the River Dove catchment. The Agency in consultation with key organisations has identified a number of environmental issues relevant to this area. We need to confirm that we have addressed all current issues and the options to resolve them, taking into account the often conflicting demands on the environment by its users. The LEAP process will provide a vision for the environmental needs of the River Dove area. It will provide a framework within which we can seek to develop new partnerships with organisations and bodies with whom we wish to share a common approach on environmental , issues. This report is published as part of our commitment to being open and consulting with others about our work. This will be part of a major consultation exercise and marks the start of a three month period of consultation. Following the consultation period the Agency will produce a five year action plan which will set out a costed programme of work by the Agency and other organisations. Annual reviews over the five year period will report on significant achievements and progress being made on the issues. Your views are extremely important. Only by letting us know your opinions will we be able to make a real difference to your local environment.
