Sion Hill, 6 Bonds Lane Cover.Indd Sion Hill 6 Bonds Lane | Garstang | Preston | Lancashire | PR3 1ZB SION HILL Charming and bursting with character is this wonderful expansive five bedroom residence in the centre of the picturesque town of Garstang. Remaining within the same family for over 40 years, having been clearly loved and adored. Enjoying an interesting history from being a previous doctor’s residence and a flamboyant Sea Captains house. Since then a well known, colourful and respected local lawyer had occupied the property for many years alongside his family. We understand originally constructed in the second half of the 18th Century, since then the property has been modernized with Victorian additions and minor alterations in Edwardian times. Original timber and glazed entrance door leads into the reception hallway and delightful original Victorian tiled flooring with archway leading to an inner hall. From the hallways can be found no less than three reception rooms, dining and breakfast/kitchen rooms. Turning to the left upon entering the property can be found the drawing room, being the largest of the reception rooms and retaining some splendid original features such as original wooden shutters, picture rail and cornice, a glorious fireplace also offers a wonderful focal point. All of the reception rooms are of generous sized proportions with the dining room delighting in a bay window to the side aspect and again boasting original features such as an open fire, original timber shutters and picture rail. Either side of the dining room can be found the morning room and the study, with the study being a great place to have a fully functional office. To the rear of the ground floor can be found the spacious breakfast/kitchen with delightful views on to the private and enclosed rear garden. Porch, pantry and wash room can all be accessed via the kitchen. The impressive Victorian staircase provides access to the main landing and on to the first floor, here can be found five double bedrooms, three of which are to the front of the property with the principal bedroom to the rear elevation, overlooking the beautiful garden. Principal bedroom also has the benefit of a Jack & Jill ensuite sharing with a bedroom to the front elevation. Off the main landing is access to an inner landing, allowing access to a further generous size bedroom with rear aspect views and separate family bathroom. Furthermore from the main landing is access via a staircase to two good size attic rooms, both benefiting from Velux windows. Beautiful established extensive gardens wrap around the property extending to the side and rear, plentiful foliage including mature shrubs, hedgerows, trees and in the main laid to lawn. Sion Hill is set on a plot of approximately 1.5 acres. Access to the private driveway can be entered from the side of the property off Bonds Lane, with turning circle and multiple off road vehicle parking. Within the rear garden stands the detached coach house with built in WC, stone sink and workshop, measuring at over 700 sqft the unit offers a substantial size and certainly has the ability to be converted into a detached annexe, making it a complete living accommodation if so desired. Located centrally to the picturesque and friendly town of Garstang, where quite literally the local shops are on your doorstep! The town itself plays host to a number of annual events including the well established Children’s Festival and Christmas Victorian evenings to name but a few. Situated in an excellent location within Lancashire, you have the beautiful Lake District less than an hour away and even closer is the Forest of Bowland, which is a renowned Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and famed for its delightful country walks. Garstang offers excellent transport links including regular bus services to Preston & Lancaster and easy access onto the A6 Preston Lancaster New Rd. Motorway connections are also within close proximity with access to the M6 & M55 network. Garstang has plentiful amenities with three major supermarkets, a leisure centre, tennis club and library. There are also a number of primary schools within the town and the secondary school of Garstang Community Academy. The town is also a short travelling distance north to Lancaster Royal Grammar & the Girls Grammar School and Lancaster University. Heading south can be found the University of Central Lancashire in Preston. Also within close proximity is Rossall School in Fleetwood and Stonyhurst College near Clitheroe. Directions: When leaving Garstang town centre from Bridge Street, go over the bridge onto Bonds Lane, property can be found on your right hand side with access by side entrance which also leads to Cornmill Nursing & Residential Care Home. • Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING a REASSURING RESPONSE to COVID-19 Introduction by JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER
Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING A REASSURING RESPONSE TO COVID-19 Introduction BY JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER Whilst the majority of independent and state schools have closed their doors, we have had the opportunity to continuously trial, develop and refine the measures that we have put in place to respond effectively to COVID-19. At all times, we have exceeded the recommendations of Public Health England and the World Health Organisation. Throughout this period, Rossall School has remained open to a small community of boarders. Travel restrictions have meant that some pupils elected to stay with us in the sure knowledge that their safety, wellbeing and happiness was our priority. Similarly, we have continued to educate the children of key workers on site and our beautiful campus is home to the families of many of our teachers. This dedicated approach has helped to ensure that there have been no cases of COVID-19 at Rossall School. At all times, we have sought to minimise risk and maximise the safety of all within our community. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that others within the boarding sector are now looking to Rossall to provide advice, guidance and leadership. As parents ourselves, we were very quick to understand the need to maintain the highest level of confidence in our pastoral provision. We have achieved this by communicating with our families with clarity, openness and regularity. Since reports of the COVID-19 crisis began to emerge in early January, we have carefully planned each stage of our response and adopted a strategically proactive stance.
