  • Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING a REASSURING RESPONSE to COVID-19 Introduction by JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER
Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING A REASSURING RESPONSE TO COVID-19 Introduction BY JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER Whilst the majority of independent and state schools have closed their doors, we have had the opportunity to continuously trial, develop and refine the measures that we have put in place to respond effectively to COVID-19. At all times, we have exceeded the recommendations of Public Health England and the World Health Organisation. Throughout this period, Rossall School has remained open to a small community of boarders. Travel restrictions have meant that some pupils elected to stay with us in the sure knowledge that their safety, wellbeing and happiness was our priority. Similarly, we have continued to educate the children of key workers on site and our beautiful campus is home to the families of many of our teachers. This dedicated approach has helped to ensure that there have been no cases of COVID-19 at Rossall School. At all times, we have sought to minimise risk and maximise the safety of all within our community. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that others within the boarding sector are now looking to Rossall to provide advice, guidance and leadership. As parents ourselves, we were very quick to understand the need to maintain the highest level of confidence in our pastoral provision. We have achieved this by communicating with our families with clarity, openness and regularity. Since reports of the COVID-19 crisis began to emerge in early January, we have carefully planned each stage of our response and adopted a strategically proactive stance.
