NEWS RELEASE XM Satellite Radio November Program Exclusives Include Premiere of New Nelson Mandela Tribute CD, Pearl Jam Live Special, Moody Blues Acoustic Concert & Revealing Tom Jones Interview 11/14/2003 Washington D.C., November 14, 2003-- XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: XMSR), America's #1 satellite radio service, today announced its exciting line-up of exclusive specials, live concerts, interviews and championship sporting events leading up to the start of the holiday season. XM kicked off November with the national radio premiere of "The Black Album," the much-anticipated CD by recording superstar Jay-Z. XM's uncut hip-hop channel, Raw (XM Channel 66), is now playing every track from the CD, which is available in stores today. Jay-Z's partner in Roc-a-fella Records, Damon Dash, and labelmate Kareem "Biggs" Burke can be heard weekly on Roc Radio carried exclusively on XM Channel 65, The Rhyme. XM's upcoming program highlights include: On November 17, legendary rock group the Moody Blues will be broadcast live and direct from the XM Performance Theater at XM's studios in Washington, DC. This first-ever national broadcast of an acoustic performance by a band that remains a top concert draws airs live at 3:00 pm ET on Fine Tuning (XM Channel 104). Band members will perform favorite songs while telling stories from past and present. On November 14, NASCAR Radio (XM Channel 144) broadcasts the 2003 NASCAR championship races live throughout the weekend starting with the Bud Pole Qualifying Ford 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series; followed by the Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series; the Ford 300 NASCAR Busch Series; and the Ford 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series. On November 17, Special X (XM Channel 30) airs an interview at 12:00 noon ET with one of the world's 1 greatest entertainers, Tom Jones. During Tom's visit to XM this month he provided insight into his early years in Wales, his personal life and his five decades of making hits. Woven throughout the discussion, Special X will play Tom's greatest music from the early years of "What's New Pussycat" to his new chart topping work with Wyclef Jean. On November 27, a massive, 12-hour special devoted to Pearl Jam captured live in concert will be broadcast on an XM alternative-rock channel, Ethel (XM Channel 47) beginning at 12:00.noon ET. Dubbed "Pearl Jam Live from Space: The Ultimate Pearl Jam Concert," this special includes over 120 songs and more than 10 encores. Ethel also features Pearl Jam's new double-disc rarities album "Lost Dogs." Listeners will win "Lost Dogs," the new Pearl Jam DVD and an entire Pearl Jam music catalog including over 100 live CDs. XM's channel devoted to new, cutting-edge music in the tradition of college radio, XMU (XM Channel 43), debuts a new program called "Axis of Justice Radio" with hosts Serj Tankian (System of a Down, Serart) and Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave). Morello performs live on XM as part of the Tell Us the Truth tour, which features Morello's side band the Nightwatchman, Billy Bragg, Steve Earle and others. On November 24, XM broadcasts the final night of the tour live from the famed 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Songs from the new Nelson Mandela tribute album make their American debut on several XM channels this month. The album "46664" takes its name from the prison number of the former South African president when he was jailed under the apartheid regime in his country. The CD features new songs by Bono, Paul McCartney, Beyonce, the late Joe Strummer, members of Queen, Ms. Dynamite, Timbaland and Paul Oakenfold.
